3D Metalic Text Tutorial

Creating 3D Metalic Text

In this tutorial, we are going to create

3-dimensional metalic text.

There are many varieties, this is just one.

Start by opening your Paint shop and click

new set at 400x200. Choose your background

color and click ok.

Create a new raster layer (Layers>New

raster layer). Enter your desired text in the

image using the following text settings:

Antialias-checked and Floating-on

Next step, apply an inner bevel to your text.

(Effects>Inner bevel) (see settings below)

and your image will look like this

Now add a new raster layer (Layers>new

raster layer, and choose a color to fill in your

text with. Apply an inner bevel using the same

settings as previously used to get this image.

You can now either save the image as is, or

make your background transparent.

Decorate your text with a frame or leave as is and enjoy.

I'll definitely have to give this a try in Gimp. It looks like fun. Thank for the link and the tutorial, sweetie! You did well explaining things. I can probably convert the techniques easily.

I have been using inner bevel for a while on text as well as tubes. I don't do the new raster layer, thogh. I change colors using the column aftereffects (going blank here. I also use chrome under effects. Often I spend a lot of time hand bitmap editing the text. I add or decrease highlights that way, and also change text width or shape at times.

I will have to try this tut. Sounds much easier! Hand editing can be the pits. I've just discovered all the color variations, and also have experimented with effects for text.
