No Winter Wonderland Here

It’s hard not to look at all the holiday decorations and wonder why they’re up. It’s quite strange to see flashing lights, wreathes and Santa figures everywhere when there’s no briskness to the air. Today is the 11th Day of December and it’s 78 degrees. Yesterday was the same.

It’s mid-December in North Alabama and it’s almost 80 degrees.

Do you now understand why all the paraphernalia of the season is disconcerting?

We spent the weekend washing cars and riding around in the convertible with the top down. This is certainly not chestnuts-roasting-on-an-open-fire weather! It’s nice; it is, however, it is not the holiday weather I’m used to and that has made me less than enthusiastic for this holiday season. Not that I don’t want the joy and cheer … it’s just not “Christmas” or “Chrismasolstikwanzakkuh” as I like to say.

There’s no winter wonderland as of yet, here this year. Perhaps the Universe will surprise us with a few snow flakes floating behind Santa’s Sleigh.
