1- cropping and resizing more than one image for the border of your background.
2- creating a texture for the body of your background.
3- Pasting your border images into your textured background.
4- Creating a "dividing line" effect to separate the body and the border of your background.
5- cutting out and embossing an image to for an overlay detail in the body of your background.
6- adding text to customize your background for yourself or a friend.
You will create a background with AT LEAST two images for the border images.
---------------------------------------------------------
1- Click We will start with step one, cropping and resizing images. I know I've went over this on other tutorials, but I will go over them again in this one.
Open up these two images in Paint Shop Pro 8. 7 or 9 can be used, but I used 8 for this tutorial.
Image one:

Image two:

The first thing we are going to do, is to crop the first image, and take out some of the white around the image.
You do that by selecting the square selection tool, as shown below, and dragging it around the image.

Next, you copy it, and then Paste as new image. You will get something like this:

Next, we will resize it to a good size for one part of the border of your background. A good size I would use for this one would be 200 wide by 300 tall, like this:
(Go to Image, then Resize)

Now, you have one part of your border image done. For the next image, we are just going to resize it. It's pretty much square, so we will resize it to 200 wide by 200 tall, so it won't get disfigured, as shown below.
Next, we will add a little artistic flair to these images by buttonizing them.

Now, adjust your settings so they look like this:

Click ok, and it's buttonized. Now, Just repeat the process over again for the other image as well.
End of Step one.
-------------------------------------------------------
2- creating a texture for the body of your background.
The first thing we are going to do is open a new, blank white image, sized 1200 wide by 500 high. You create the new blank white image as shown below:

Now that you have your new white image, we will make the texture of the body a light grey, since we are doing black and white images for our border images.
Click on the paint bucket tool:

After that, you will need to chose your colours on the colour palette, on the right hand side of the program, like this:
(remember, I chose light grey for this.)

Now, while you have the box open, click in the little box to add a texture to your colour, like pictured below:

Next, you need to go and adjust your paint properties as shown below:

The next step is easy, once you have your paint bucket properties set, all you have to do is click in the white image with the paint bucket tool, and you will have created your texture for your background, as shown below. (However, we aren't done quite yet...)

Now, go to Effects, Image Effects, and chose Seamless Tiling, as pictured below:

Just click ok on the box that pops up, and we are done with step two.
-------------------------------------------------------
3- Pasting your border images into your textured background.
First step, copy one of your images, like this: (by right clicking on your image)

Next, right click into your textured background, and chose "Paste as new layer" as pictured below:

Next, you will have something like this:

Now you will need to use the crosshairs tool to move the border image to where it needs to be placed, like this:

Using the crosshairs, move the image into the top left corner of your textured background:

Now, repeat the same steps for the other image:

Next, right click and copy merged, then paste as a new image.
Now, we have finished with this step.
-------------------------------------------------------
4- Creating a "dividing line" effect to separate the body and the border of your background.
the first thing you need do, is select the pen tool, as shown below:

Next thing you need to do, is select the line you want to use for your divider line. For the sake of this tutorial, Im going to use the line that is pictured below, but you can chose any line you like.

Once you have the line chosen, click near the top of your background image, then drag it to the bottom. (see below image) Your cursor will look something like this:

Then, once you have a straight vertical line, all you need do is let go, and you will have something like this:

Now, your dividing line is finished.
On to the next step.
