ITS HERE!!! POETS SURVIVOR 3^

Introduction

Now that Poets Survivor Season 2 has finished, and Laura Lamarca has been crowned the winner, standing next to Cupcrazy in the hall of fame, I want to start the third season going. Hopefully I will be getting it off its feet sometime this week. I am not looking for judging, you will recieve and IM if I am looking for you as a judge.

Quick Overview Of Poets Survivor

For those of you who are new to this, you may be wondering "What is Poets Survivor?"

It is a contest that consists of many rounds, where certain amounts of poets will be eliminated each round. It takes lots of dedication from both the judges in the contestants, lots of skill and most of all, patience.

What is knew with Poets Survivor this season? Survivor 3 is aimed to run for 5 months, like other Poets Survivors. It is hoped to end around the beginning of April. This seeason, the poets will also require teamwork.

The Process Of Poets Survivor

The first interval of audition:
Poets will enter prewrites into this audition section. Then, the four judges will be leaving as a comment either a simple "Yes" or "No". If a poet recieves 2 or 3 or 4 Yes', the have automatically made it through the audition round. If a poet recieves only one Yes, or none at all, then they are eliminated from the competition, and that is the end of their run.

Preliminary Rounds:
In the Preliminary Rounds, all the poets who made it through the Audition round (including the 8 wildcards)
will compete in a series of challenges. I am hoping for at least 40 finalists to make it through from Auditions. Each Preliminary Round there will be a prompt posted (prompts will get harder as we get farther and farther into Preliminary Rounds). In Preliminary Rounds the judges will give each Poet's poem a Yes or No, as they did in the auditions. When the contest is over, poets who recieved 3 or 4 yes' will move on through to the next round. We will continue having Preliminary Rounds until a final 15 (approximately) is reached. Each Preliminary Round will last 2 or 3 days for a writing period. This is meant to test you.

The Tribe Rounds:
The tribe rounds will became once we hit the Finale 15 (approximately) until we hit a final 10, 9, 8 (it really depends on how I feel things are going ). In the tribe rounds, contestants will be split into teams. In which groups for each tribe will be created. Every week a new challenge comes out (in which you have a week to write for). The tribe rounds consist of challenges where a group of people will pen a poem together (based on the Round's given challenge). Once poems are submitted (before the deadline!) The Judges will judge each tribe piece based on the current Judging rubric (see Judging rubric below). The tribe who had the lowest score will be announced. Then, all the members of that tribe, will write a new piece (based on a given prompt). In our own "Judges" group, each Judge will then nominate someone for elimination. The judges will then discuss, and decide, who to vote out. This conversion is private. All that well be announced was the "nominated" bottom four and the eliminated poet. The eliminated poet will then leave the game. (But keep updated! )

The Individual Rounds:
The Individual Rounds are aimed to start once 10 Poets remain in the game. During the individual rounds, contestants will pen pieces completely by themselves based on the current challenge. Then, using the current judging rubric (see judging rubric, below) the judges will score each poet. The Poet with the lowest score will then leave the competition. This happens until 3 poets remain in the game. In case of a tie for last place in the individual rounds, the poets will be asked to pen another, new piece. This piece will then me scored, the poet with the lowest score leaves the competition.

The Final Rounds:
The Final Rounds begin once three poets remain. At the start of the final rounds, there will be 2 "Doorways" into the finale. For the first "Doorway" all three poets will been a poem, and the poet who recieves the highest score from the judges will enter into the Finale. In the second "Doorway" the other two poets will pen pieces. The poet who then recieves the highest score will enter the Finale. The third poet will be removed from the competition. For the Finale, the 2 poets will pen 3 poems based upon 3 given challenges. The the judges, along with all the Poet who had mad it into the Top 15 will cast a vote for each challenge. Meaning each voter will cast 3 votes. The poet who recieves the most votes is the winner of Poets Survivor.

The Judging Rubric

The judging rubric will vary every round, based on what is being asked each round. But please keep in mind that there is sub-topics (ex: imagery, metaphor) in which are each worth different amounts of points. This points contribute to your total per each judge. For each contestant, the lowest and highest score is dropped, and the two middle scores are added to make a poet/tribes grand total. (The reason for dropping the highest and lowest score is because it helps varify who really did the best). Thank-you for this idea Bunny.

The Contract

The contract is something that you will but in your Author's notes when you submit a piece of writing in the audition round. It varifies that you know the rules. "The Contract" is as follows:

< I am prepared for this contest, and I will make all deadlines that are given to me (unless the case of a medical reason or emergency comes up) if I know I will not be around AP that much at one point (due to things like school, vacations) I will notify Ryan ahead of time.
< I will not bash any beliefs, religions, etc at any point in this contest
< I will not bash/insult or speak unneeded commets about any contestant at any point in this contest, all comments on my fellow contestants will be written in the form of constructive criticism
< I realize that all judges decisions are final, and I will respect the judges, if one judge does say something unneeded, I will report it to Ryan, or the mods, but I realize that all comments I am recieving from judges are intended to be constructive criticism
< Most of all, I will try to have fun

I _________ (username/first name) have read the above rules, and agree to follow.

The Prize

Overall the winner of Poets Survivor will recieve a hefty amount of points (TBA) and some trophies, the runner-up will also recieve a fair amount of points. But mostly, the winners recieve bragging rights and the label of Sole Survivor.

The Purpose Of Poets Survivor

The purpose of Poets Survivor is to uncover unknown talent, or display the talent of Poets. It is to reward them for their ability to pen in the art of poetry. But most of all, the purpose of Poets Survivor is to entertain and have... fun!!

The status of survivor is horrible
I havent been able to interperet or write poetry or even be creative very much lately. Exams are coming up. I am sick. Maybe when I get through writers block? Possibly.

I will never win a multi-round contest, but I always seem to gain experience and learn some new things. Good choice of judges; they are 100% fair. That is what is making this contest so appealing.
Yep. I will definitely participate in this. I will be looking for the audition rounds.

There will be a group created for each tribe, so you can leave messages/parts of poems to them and keep updated.
