Confused about how the contest overview works? It's the new main link on the 'contests' button, http://allpoetry.com/contest
It splits up contests by a few of the more popular categories. Each contest is shown only once, so if it's shown in another category, it'll be skipped. Only open contests are shown, and ones in the 'invite only' category are skipped.
A few categories will be automatically added when you submit or edit a contest, like 'quickie' if the title contains "Pay it forward" or "PIF" or "Quickie", or 'word bank', etc.
The page is only updated every 30 minutes. We're working on some bugs with not very many contests showing from the categories.
The store now has a clear split between editing an existing membership, and signing up for a new one. One change that may be less popular is that all memberships by default are auto-renewing. You can cancel at any time however on your 'edit subscription' or 'my account' page.
Memberships of 3 months or longer have had their prices lowered to better compete with the one-month price.

To add to Frozentearz comment, first it was 75 points for hosting a contest, then it was 76, then it was 25, now it's down to 7. Why is that?

i love everything that has been added, but i do have an idea/ suggestion. I find that alot of people have contest only for their "favorites" or "invites only", but the poets name is hidden, so how will the person holding the contest be able to know if it's their friend or not. I was kinda thinking maybe a section when creating a contest where you can choise who can enter your contest or not or something like that. It's just an idea though.

Thanks Kevin for the Author's page trophy change. You saved me from counting them to compare where I was behind and ahead at accomplishment of growth in my writing.They've seemed to gauge pretty much evenly.

Don't like throphy change I liked watching it grow...it felt rewarding ...and positively good thing about the site... -

I like the changes, but I can't seem to renew my subscription, I had a gold membership, got a -57 error, and can't re-buy my gold membership, keep getting an error 500
Any ideas?

I pay month by month so what does three or more months mean, I just clicked your link, and all I see is gold. 14.95 a month and silver 6.95 a month,
are you saying we can do three months at a time? in one shot for one price ? please un confuse me.

It'll renew for 3 months when that expires, unless you cancel it on your 'edit billing' page, which you can do right away.

Yes, you can purchase gold and silver memberships for 3 month, 6 month and 12 month subscriptions.

I don't see how people being rude will get them anywhere.
I'd like that my monthly is taken into account when there are sales on.
I'd like to keep my class trophies on my page.

Class trophies, - diploma...I think it makes us sound more official like we really passed a class Maybe we should get a blue if someone actually takes all the courses though

I like the contest update. It was needed. Though personally I'd still like separate categories for pre-write and pay it forward contests, as there are for quickies. I do like them better than they were now, though.
But those self renewal memberships don't really appeal to me. I wasn't going to purchase any for myself, but when we get those free trial weeks (if we'll get any more) will those be self renewed as well? -
what about making us with credit cards with expiration dates not of 2013 but later on, when do we get a chance to purchase memberships?

It ultimately doesn't matter anyway. He will do what he will do no matter what. I'm having surgery tomorrow. I certainly didn't need this additional aggravation tonight. As for the "auto-renewal", I guess I'll be calling my bank to cancel my card. I won't order online again. This stinks.

I just went to the AP store & clicked on the link to edit my billing info, intending to delete it completely so that it couldn't be "auto-renewed". Guess what message I got? "Sorry, you don't seem to have a current membership, perhaps you would like to sign up for one?" Yet, my billing history says "6 month gold for user Night Hope on July 25. $89.95". Aaarrrggghh.

I don't like the trophy changes, either. As for the auto-renewal of memberships? You're assuming the funds will be there at that time. If they're not there & members aren't quick enough to realize it, we will then be charged an exorbitant fee by our banks for overdrafts. Granted, it does take awhile to get used to the changes & I have been vocal in my dislike of many of them. I understand you've had issues with spamming (yeah, I got hit with the poetry.com "message", too) ~ but now, when I find a new, talented poet or a really good one by a known writer, I can't send the link to my friends. I can't send invitations to my contests. All I can do is tell them "go to my page". I also miss the ability to go through my entire list of poems. Now, it's limited to only 50 pages of browsing. For some of us more prolific poets, that's only maybe a month or two of our poems listed. I have been going through them & deleting many of my older ones, but this method makes it frustrating & time consuming, too. And the drop-down box for prewrites in contests? It only goes to the ones beginning with "I", in my case. I'm all for improvements, but many of these changes do not seem to qualify as such, in my opinion...nor were we notified of them to begin with. I love this site and many of the people on it are some of the finest, most talented and compassionate people I've ever encountered...but it has changed so much so many times in 3 years. A lot of people have left over the many "perks & quirks". "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Sighhh...

Always takes a while to get used to changes; oft times we are not infavor of them, but when used for a while, all works out in the end. Applaud you for keeping pace with technology and making things easier in the long run.
