Justification that Poets are, in fact, Artists

People seem to think that poetry isn't an art. Well, I'm here to prove that it is.
art: The quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.

aesthetic:
1) Pertaining to a sense of the beautiful.
2) Having a sense of the beautiful; characterized by a love of beauty.
3) Pertaining to, involving, or concerned with pure emotion and sensation as opposed to pure intellectuality.

beautiful: Having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure to see, hear, or think about; delighting the senses or mind.

emotion: Any of the feelings of joy, sorrow, fear, hate, love, etc.

medium: The material or technique with which an artist works.

poetry: The art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts.

We are poets. The art of poetry is aesthetically beautiful and bursting with emotion.

Therefore, we are artists. Our medium is simply language rather than paint or charcoal or clay.

So, there you have it. Proof that poets are, in fact, artists.

I came to read your poetry by looking at a contest and I am truly amazed at the way you write, pouring your heart and soul into it. As I commented in response to Porcelain Princess, your words are so beautiful, especially coming from someone so young...I feel that you have a unique talent and should pursue it, nurture it and more importantly...never be deterred by critics (you will always meet them)...just keep writing from your heart and you will always hit the spot. It took me a long time to realise that I can put my thoughts and feelings into words and create something beautiful or funny and hopefully one day...profound. Stay true to yourself and keep writing such beautiful words.

There is this saying "Painting is silent poetry, and poetry painting that speaks"
