Poet of the week: MissBumbleBee

MissBumbleBee is in the third round of my most recent contest. She is very interesting and has some great advice for dating. She is a very talented writer and gives her all. If you'd like to know more about her you can visit her home page: http://allpoetry.com/MissBumbleBee

Foxydaze14: What got you writing poetry?
MissbumbleBee: Well when I was in second grade my teacher made us write "books" we would use cardboard and wall paper to make covers for them and then we would read them to the class. Everyone loved it!! and I guess I just never stopped writing. it's been a way for me to release my stresses and put down in pen (or computer ink ) what I feel like I can't say aloud.

FD14: What topic do you tend to write more about?
MBB: I would have to say relationships mostly. It’s a very broad topic and I can spin it either direction...good or bad, happy or sad. And any form can fit it!! A lot of my poems are about becoming a Christian and what went on in my life. (my trials and tribulations, falls, and deep love spells with God). Some are personal boyfriends, but I’ve found out that I’m to young to date and right now, a guy would just mess things up A LOT. hahaha.

FD14: Did you use to have a lot of boyfriends?
MBB: no not really, but I had one relationship that really opened my eyes and showed me what player is and lets just say...NOT FUN!! I though we'd last for a long time, I mean not forever, no, but more then 2 weeks. But, he is nothing if he treats all girls like that. I think the only good thing that even came out of that relationship was some inspiration hahaha.

FD14: Dating is a bigger deal than what others think. So what would you tell a young 10 year old who is thinking about starting to date?
MBB: yeah I agree with you. people just don't release...
I'd ask him/her if they are ready to leave their friends and spend all their time with their boyfriend/girlfriend...because that's what is happening now-a-days...people date and they loose track of their friends…and they start changing to please their mate. it's wrong. so just wait...you're not missing out on anything big, you've got all the rest of your lives to date and find the perfect person for you. so hold of and be a kid.

FD14: That's so true. Since you are a christian do you believe in saving yourself for marriage?
MBB: yes I do. I hate to admit it, but I gave my first kiss to that bad relationship and now that's one thing I wish I could have back so much but I can't. and from that I'm defiantly saving myself for marriage, and ya know, people can say all they want if they don't like it, I say it all the time…sticks and stone, words can't hurt me, God's got my back." it's even on my author's page.

FD14: Ok getting back to your writing, how long have you been writing?
MBB: like I said before, I was made to write for school at a young age, but I guess I started writing for myself in about 5th grade..so 4 years now. Although my variety isn't all that big on the forms I write, so I'm hoping I'll expand that pretty soon.

FD14: What is your writing process?
MBB: Well I guess I’m inspired firstly. And it may take a while for something to “kick in”. like I could watch a movie and not write something about it until 2 a.m. when I wake up from a dream because I finally thought of something…yes, I wake up in the middle of the night and write poems down. Weird I know but when I do start writing the verse tend to put themselves together and it’s the rhyming that I have to really work on. The words just flow right out of my mouth. That’s the beauty of poetry I think how quickly something so beautiful can come, and it lasts a lifetime.

FD14: What are your other hobbies?
MBB: I've played the guitar for 7 years now and I play many sports. Volleyball is the team sport I'm doing now, but i enjoy many others like soccer, softball, dance and so on. I volunteer a lot and I think that that has to be one of the most rewarding and more fun things that I do. we've talked about it before, but I'll say it again...the greatest reward anyone can receive is the feeling of knowing that you helped make someone's life a little better.

FD14: what kind of guitar do you have?
MBB: my first was a child's acoustic, my second was an electric, and the one i got this year for my birthday was an acoustic-electric!! Music has really saved me from doing some stupid stuff and I have no clue where I'd be if I didn't play or sing.

FD14: Are you self-taught or did you take guitar lessons?
MBB: Kind of both really, I mean I've taken lessons as long as I've played but I've written a couple of songs myself and taught myself out of the book without the help of my teacher.

FD14: Do you play in front of crowds?
MBB: I play in front of my family at holidays and my friends when they come over...but as far as a gig, no not yet.

FD14: This has been a great chat. Thank you
