I've spent quite a bit of time browsing this site and others, from contests to poems, and have come up with virtually nothing that strikes me. Granted, there are, and must be, exceptions; but the vast majority of what i have found is trite and unartistic in an attempt to reduce poetry to a mere hobby.
Poetry, the tragic art. The Dionysian art.
How is it that the masses, rank and vile, ignorant and blind to themselves. Genderless. Without beauty or telos. Damnably content and stagnant, how can you defile this pure and cruel beauty?
How is it you seek to destroy this frenzy?
What i have found hee is not art, but poison and idiocy.
Wake up!
Wake up!

The title ALLpoetry is a bit of a giveaway.
Just as prose-literature has developed over the years into a multi layered array of wildly different and even conflicting styles so its companion poetry-literature has developed into an equally diverse mess.
There are many sections of what nowadays masquerades under the guise of poetry that makes me wince and want to hide the fact that I read poetry but never-the-less they exist and must be accepted as some of Calliope's offspring.
Whilst I agree that much of what is presented here is, FOR ME, rubbish there are some little enclaves on the site where good poetry can still be found that stirs me in the way poetry should.
If writers of "POETRY" do not evangilise by sharing their work then the standards will continue to be diluted so surely one should try to educate by exampple and not run away.
I do not know if my own efforts fall into that category for you but they keep me happy whilst I am experiencing the offerings of others.
So I agree a lot of the work may be as artistic as Damien Hirst's cow but it is not poison, merely gall, (something bitter to endure). -
Right on. This site is bunk. Of course, I've posted quite a few poems on this site. I'm not a great poet by any means, but at the very least I see myself as a developing artist. I'm not writing about how fuckin' happy i am to have christ in my life nor am i writing completely absurd druid shit. And why do some people think all poetry is about flowers???
Anyway i enjoyed reading your post.

p.s.
Sounds like you've been reading some Nietzsche. He's good for lighting that spark, but please be careful with him.
