It anagrams to:
"Beethoven's Howlingly Melodious New Bass Guitar 'n' Strangle Disco."
When creative people get together, some beautiful things can happen. Some very strange things can happen as well. And the very strange things can end up developing an unexpected beauty of their own, which is what happened this February in a song writing challenge I participated in.
And so I introduce to you, Strangle Disco!
Strangle Disco is the genre we came up with. It includes disco beats, funky bass (it must be howlingly melodious, after all!), Beethoven samples and references, tongue-in-cheek sinister lyrics (remember the "tongue-in-cheek," very very important!!!), and usually anagrams. These things can also combine, so you have an anagrammed Beethoven song title and things like that. Most importantly, though, Strangle Disco songs are meant to be written quickly and not taken too seriously. What you end up with is something that's a lot of fun to listen to. And also a lot of fun to read, just as lyrics.
Strangle Disco also leads to a lot of experimentation, more so than usual. Perhaps this is because it itself is an experimental genre!
We've divided the experiments into 3 sub-genres.
Experimental Strangle Disco can go without the sinister lyrics and/or the anagrams. This means you can have a Strangle Disco love song! It can also include a great deal of sound layering and electronica. This is my sub-genre, lol! So if you have any questions about this, yeah.
Then we have Post Strangle Disco which uses Bach samples and references instead of Beethoven. It can also use elements of Experimental Strangle Disco.
Finally, there's Post Apocalyptic Strangle Disco, which breaks ALL the rules, except the ones about having fun and the instrumentation. No Bach, no Beethoven (which is actually a line from a song in the Post Apocalyptic genre, lol.), no anagrams, and no tongue-in-cheek sinister lyrics. Just a howlingly melodious bass guitar. Oh and the disco, of course. Can't forget the disco. lol.
Now, since I have you all totally confused, the best way to learn about Strangle Disco is to experience it! Unfortunately though, now you can't 'cause it's down until February. Hopefully some new strangle-disco gets written so I can give you a new link!
Enjoy! And if you try it yourself, I'd love to see it!
"Wow, those could all be lines in the same song. A very disturbing song."
