it never ceases to surprise, annoy and confuse those "innocent" bystanders who experience over and over again the affect of people who live their lives blinded to the evils that happen around them and under neath their approve, can turn something as stupid as an energy drink or toy into the enemy. into the "reason for the corruption of" our country, school, or souls. how can one thing be responsible for something that huge unless we first plant the idea that it can, the answer? it can't. unless we give objects the power to warp our minds, cause our deterioration or become the divider between us and God, it is powerless.
making a scene in a public area, stomping on a bottle of energy drink in an attempt to "stomp out the sin in our lives" because the energy drink is labeled "cocaine" is overly dramatic and the equivalent of screaming fire in a crowded theater, which by the way is outlawed. you can not induct unnecessary panic when no threat exists. not to say that no threat exists, there is a threat, a huge threat, but it does not exist in energy drinks, troll dolls, playing cards or any other everyday object labeled as evil by some of the more extreme church members,
"be in the world and not of it" good point. I don't pretend for a minute to believe that I am unaffected by the world, nor that marketing companies target teens with everything from "cocaine" & "sex bracelets" to low cut shirts, and commercials featuring more sex appeal than anything else. beyond a doubt they are, but watching tv and drinking drinks do not in themselves make us sinners. it's something much more deeply rooted in us, it's our human nature.
we don't blame matches for a fire that we lit them to start. we don't blame the ability to speak for cussing, and we don't blame water for getting us wet, we blame the stupid person that kicked the water on us. likewise we can not blame the drugs for getting us high, the beer for getting us drunk nor the sex for giving us an STD. we do, or should be blaming ourselves. it's not these random outside substances that are a threat to us, it's ourselves.
I have gotten off topic, I understand this, but I told you "random railings"
one more thing I will throw in here. this story that's been all over the news with the radio DJ calling a basketball team "knobby headed hoes" has been over extended so far beyond its reach. how does this have anything to do with race? it doesn't that would be the resounding answer on that one. it has nothing to do what so ever with race. and even if it did, it has a million times more to do with the fact that women were refereed to as "hoes" why is that okay? why is it that words like hoes, bitch, shank and slut don't bother us anymore? the women of our generation need to stand up and reclaim their respect, not only from others but also from themselves. their self esteem and their unique beauty.
"expecting a man calling you a hoe is the first step towards expecting domestic abuse as a way of life" we need to take back the beauty and strength that God gave us... if not for ourselves, than so that our daughters will know that it is not okay, and that no matter what anyone tells them they are worth more than that and that they are so much more than a sex object, or a chew toy.
*sigh* okay study halls over. I don't mean to offend, as already stated, these are just my thoughts.
I don't mean to insult or offend, but this is just the thoughts of some stupid 17 year old girl...
