the young writer's wrinkled brow syndrome, an introductory lecture

about younger writers and encouraging younger writers to write
Ladies and gentlemen, this morning we shall spend a few minutes
Upon the study of beginner writers/those with writer's block, which is basic to the
nature of crumpled poems and the wrinkled brow syndrome of I-can't-write-a-poem-worth beans right now. I show you this general, beginner poem.

I may eat in an hour

What you consume

In a week.

If I ask you to stop

A block away from school,

Don’t be offended.

Obviously, it’s because

The car is dirty.

Sarcasm?

Sarcasm?

Yeah, whatever.

Like I would use sarcasm.

I curse like a sailor

And whenever I damn well please.

Bonus points if

You have your sewing circle over.

I’ll be as emo as I want

And let my hair hang

In front of my eyes.

And if Dad wants me to cut it,

And threatens to do it in my sleep,

I’ll camp out on the roof.

Come and get me, Daddy Dearest.

See that pair of jeans?

The three hundred dollar pair?

Yep, gotta have em.

Cause all my friends have em.

Did you just say no to me?

Let me ask you this.

Do you want your daughter

To be a social outcast?

Didn’t think so.

And that party on Friday?

Everyone will be there.

And Everyone includes me.
Brad just got online. And he

Never

Gets online.

OMG.

Some teenage angst, love, dark, anticomformity and peer pressure are written all over The paper: one side shows three main complexities of an aspiring writer: their and the other shows the potential. Often, because of these three main complexities, which vary from person A to person B, lead to a wrinkled brow syndrome.

First, you notice the "school young writer". This is the profile of many.

At school the youth is quieter than other places, doing his/her best not to be noticed and go about business day by day.. S/he take a stand when it it is absolutely necessary. S/he takes a stand less and less as time goes on. School never paid much attention to me. S/he never fit in.

Second, notice the "home young writer".

At home s/he spend about as much time by his/herself as s/he do with his/her family. "It's not that I don't like my family, (cuz I do, I love them very much) I'm just not a "people person", as my mom likes to put it. The home me is also quite depressed sometimes, mainly because I hate school and I have virtually no friends nearby, and as a result I get lonely a lot. There are times when I have stayed up late in my room crying and/or contemplating suicide (yes, I am that depressed), but thankfully most of the time one of my parents (usually my mom, she's a lighter sleeper) hears my crying and comes down to comfort me. Mind you, I have never actually attempted suicide--I am never that upset about my life. In fact, I have written in several unfinished poems that although I hate my life--and I seriously do--, I don't want to die, because my life isn't that bad, there are better times ahead, and I love those close to me too much to hurt them like that."

Finally, you will notice the "friend writer"

With friends s/he is very outgoing, and, amazing as this may seem to some of my peers, s/he talk quite a bit. When s/he is with friends and when s/he is at home is the only time when s/he is not afraid to assert opinions and/or stand up for his/herself, except when my friends are leaving me out. "When that happens,I can think of no way of telling them without being rude and getting them mad at me, and I hate, hate, hate having people, especially my friends, mad at me, so I just deal with it"

In addition, to the three facets of someone, from my own experience, I have been discouraged:

"Intimidating Writers" sublime writer

I have stared and read intimidating
professional drafts from poets three times my age,
and crumpled my own poems in shame

Because I do not often understand
the big words that professional poets use
and the complicated literary elements they use

As a person, I write everyday with a proud smile
I have mastered the art of mistake making
on every subject known to man

I fight for the right to have many piles of rejection letters

To prevent a greater fall in the end-
the multitude of deaths of many ideas

Notice in conclusion, there are different diminsions to a.) the school writer b.) the home writer c.) the friend writer These three are often an enigma to professionals older than their age because younger aspiring artists often are silent, except to their friends their age and college aged people. From personal experience and teen writers, I have noticed that pressures from peers and that and rejection slips discourages them to write. I hope that our studies today will have shown you something about the future writers and will lead more people to encourage their expression and understand more of the big picture rather than dismiss them because of their youthful "rebellion/laziness". Class dismissed.

    Amen

This must be written from experience, I know this is how I once felt. However later in life I realized that I can write when what I want to and what I want and when people make fun of me or call me crazy, well then that is their problem. My writing is all me, not ment to satisfy them
