Kay's Select: Choice of the Week 3

This is my third column and it is about a poet I admire and respect. A faithful commenter on my work and a gentle spirit is felt through his work.
Puppydog: This name gives off a gentle, innocent image with almost a hint of fun. That name makes you feel safe and comfortable. For real. What harm is a puppydog going to do you?..lol

Personal Opinion:

I consider Mr. Puppydog a good friend. In the time that I have known him and what I know of him..I have never known him to be anything other than kind and sincere. Peace and hope rest in his comments and love in his concern.

Brief background: No brothers or sisters. Considers his imagination his friend. Raised in Pennsylvania.

Writing Style: Every word that I have described Mr. Puppydog with seems to rain slightly and calmly through his writings. Nature and family seem to be his favorite topics to write on and I am sure friends arn't too far from the top of the list. He is that kind of poet that if he writes about a river...you can see and hear that river....if he writes about a sunset..you can feel and take in that sunset as many times as you like. A Great Conveyer with his words. You can feel the emotion in his soul seep into yours as you read...you will know tears and laughter if you read his work..but I can guarantee you will know peace and even joy. He makes the words your comfort and haven. He makes the tempo of his piece your refuge. I read his poetry when I need to relax, when I need to get away, and when I feel like there is nothing left to admire in this world...I read Puppydog's work because it never fails me.

In His Own Words:

" I only began writing to relieve feelings of sadness and lonliness from a marriage gone bad. Then as I began to experience some peace from that I began to let everything flow onto paper. All of my poetry is about my past both good and bad, I was born and raised in a very rural area in northern Pennsylvania. I had no brothers or sisters so my imagination had to be my playmate, those poems about my days at the stream or in the woods and on the farm are true. My mom and dad both became ill when I was only 13. Of course with no one to share my feelings with it became very hard to deal with both illnesses, maybe that is why today I associate with others pain as deeply as I do. I don't write with a certain form, just from my feelings and use words to express them as sincere and simple as I can. What you read is what I really am in person, my writes are not a put on or show, they really are me. It is hard to share the inner me and most of my poetry does that a little."

Spoken Like A True Poet...read his work today and believe in the good.

What a beautiful heart felt tribute to a beautiful man. I haven't known Kevin long, but in that time I have grown to know him through reading his poems, and he is as you have described him, a kind and gentle soul.
His words have the ability to transport the reader to wherever he wishes to take them and his descriptions are so vivid you can see, taste, hear everything as he is telling you.
Thank you for this honour you have shown him, I know he is thrilled by it, and thank you for sharing....Sue

You have painted Kevin perfectly. He is all this and more. He has more compassion and sincerity in his little finger, than most people have at all. He does indeed write from his heart, whether it be in what he posts, or the comments he writes on others work. He is a light to us when we are in darkness, and a true and supportive friend. Well done. Kevin deserves this tribute. Thanks for sharing.
