Kay's Select: Choice of The Week 2

This is my second column and it is about a poet with unique wording and an amazing point of view. I have personally labeled him in my own mind as the "Passion Poet".
Moqui Takoda: Wow...now that is a mouthful but the translation is beautiful enough: Peaceful One and Friend To All. I would say that the name fits because of what I have been able to know about Mr. Takoda is that he is very friendly.

Brief Background: As a child he moved every six years, "Like clockwork", he mentioned. He grew up in every social class imaginable and this is what he credits to his knowledge of life. Use to be a professional drummer and once mentioned to me that he loved the drumming more than the writing...A man of music.

His influences:

Stillness-
Soaking into the rocks,
the cicada's cry.

Basho

Shakespeare, James Dickey, Mark Twain, Sylvia Plath, Richard Brautigan, William Keats, ee cummings, Zayra Yves and Lord Byron.

My Personal Opinion: He is a very Passionate person and displays his passion through his work. He loves to play chess and I tried a few times to play him though algebraic notation but something always came up and we never got to finish a game...he is a great player though from what I saw. He seems very personal ,to me,when it comes to his work.

In His Own Words:

"what I write about is why I write poetry: the darkest period of my life was filled with blood, death, violence, torture, cries of lament, hatred and demons...writeto show others that these things are an illusion, that only God exists as the singularity for us to make into our own hearts, for our hearts are created within our souls. It is the heart that gives us the courage to stand and be, not our bitterness, not our rage, but our hearts, for this is the light of God, our humanity."

Writing Style: diverse and original. Many different flavors to choose from when it comes to Mr. Takoda's writings. He tells storys through most of his poetry..beautiful storys that can be applied to life. He seems to choose each and every word carefully like a painter would choose his colors in his masterpiece. His words are not flat but they arn't filled with air either...you can taste the substance. Tip: when commenting on Mr. Takoda's work be sure to be diplomatic...He will take constructive critiscm but not paragraph upon paragraph of it. He is very confident in his work and if he wasn't he wouldn't have published it.

It would take more than just one column to describe Mr. Moqui Takoda for the public's expense but don't take my hazard words for it...check his work out today and see what it was you were missing in your poetic experience.

I would suggest "Monolith City"....my favorite so far.

the ambassador for a more unified poetry...

I've spoken with Moqui Takoda in private and he is full of regeneration. He is inviting and revealing at the same time. His insight into the ugliest and most beautiful of life well eclipses 9 out of 10 of us here on AP. He has shared things with me that have affected the way I think and move and write, and being middle-aged, that's not an easy thing for anyone to do to me anymore. Thank you for your graciousness, Moqui Takoda, for you are peaceful and friendly to all. Oh, and you ruckin' fock, Dude!!! ~ Ed Balldinger

Its very rare to meet someone with such talent that it is like a fine piece of crystal that should be treasured and never placed anywhere than at the top of a castle inclosed within protective armor. His poems are not only unique with such a form all there own, they touch the heart and inner soul of each reader who is blessed to read them. You have done him a great honor with this feature on him. Your words tell what he holds in his heart and soul for every word he places on paper. I am sure he is more than honored for your words about his talent and the person he is.

Danni is enigmatic, rare and precious ...

and so is his work. He is also generous, sensitive, impulsive and highly creative. He makes me grin, laugh, cry and sob. He is so funny and so serious and so very, very clever.

    Yes.
    He is a choice poet.

Thank you Kay, for featuring him.

    Love
    Myra

What I know of Moqui Takoda is ever unfolding as I read. I could put that knowlege in a nutshell, so far, but what I know of Danni is a treasure of radiance to keep forever. I find his sight keen, his arms strong, and his voice velvet, steadying in angry seas. And his heart is love. ~ Karen
