Kay's Select: Choice of The Week

This column is about one poet that I have found interesting over a period of time. I am going to try to do a different poet every week but I am not promising anything because I am one of those peeps with like a million things to do in like one day.
I am not very well known on here but I hope that by doing this I will benefit some very well deserving poets who have impressed me with character and poetic skill.
Zahhar:....well wait before I define that for you people I know what you are thinking "what the freak is a Zahhar?!"..lol...I know I know..that was me too until I read this extremely long column on what it meant...which was basicly telling me it means "vast open space" or something of the sort.

I will not mention his personal name because I have not gotten his consent to even do a column on him but he will forgive me because he is a sucker for my goofballness...don't know if that is a word but you get the point.

Brief Background: brought up in an unbalanced home with hardly any emotional support except for his sister who taught him how to read and he has mentioned that "she saved my life". Found his love for poetry at the age of 12 and his favorite poet is Robert Service. From what I know about Mr. Zahhar, Robert Service did Zahhar a great service through this poetry....lol...oh geez I am corny!

Personal Opinion: One of the greatest poets I know and there is a reason I chose to make him the topic of my first column. He put up with my farty ways for a little over a year and has helped shape a lot of what my poetry has become today. It isn't perfect but it has improved and he will back me up on that one. Witty and intelligent even though he hasn't had a formal education. I believe he will be recognized on a higher level one of these days and I can only hope he will still be around to see it come about.

Writing Form: This is what got me hooked on Zahhar's work in the first place. There really isn't any thing like it! He has been accused of trying to confuse the common man with all his mumbo jumbo but it takes a real poetry reader and appreciater to delight in his work. Zahhar wants you to get something personal from his work and draw on personal experiences as you read his work. Tip: when commenting on his work make sure to include everything you felt and every detailed image that flashed through your mind as you read his piece. This will be sure to score you brownie points with Mr. Zahhar and even get you some extra AP points.
Zahhar has created his own poetic form called the trisect. A challenging form that will be sure to delight the poets who believe in having some sort of form to your work. That isn't the only style he has taken on. There are many many others for example: tanka, haiku, ghazale and my favorite free form.

I have only skimmed the surface of Mr. Zahhar and all he has done but don't take my word for it. Check this wonderful poet out at these links today:

Bravo Kay! Well done, well done indeed.

This column is not only informative, but it is also very smoothly written. I just slid right through it and now I intend to read Zahar for sure. He will be proud and feel very very honored, that you wrote these very excellent words about him, i am certain that he will. Most impressive. ,,,Danni / BRAVO
