Forever Yours

A special memorial to our poets who are gone but not forgotten

Gone But Not Forgotten

~~§~~

Over the years since Kevin started AllPoetry, many remarkable people have passed through its doors. In the greater scheme of things the time we spend here is but a wink of an eye. However, in that very short time there have been people who have touched our hearts and minds with their words, love and fond memories.
While some of us knew them well and others only in passing we were all truly blessed to have spent a moment in time among their words.

Below are the links to some of the poets who have graced the pages of AllPoetry, leaving their final words for us to ponder. We hope that within these pages you will find something to brighten your day, heal your soul or just make you smile. Come, spend a few moments with some lost but not forgotten friends.

Dee Garner & Pat Williams

Always Near

I knew the day would come
When I’d have to say goodbye
I knew that it would hurt
And I knew that I would cry

But I truly didn’t know
How deep the pain would be
How lost I would feel
Once God set you free

I always knew you would leave
And our time would be too brief
But when that time finally came
I was enveloped in my grief

I look around me now
Waiting for you to appear
But somewhere deep inside
I know you’re always near

Tell Her

When tender tears, like autumn rains,
Turn sunny skies to grey.
Please tell her that my love remains,
T'will ever be that way.
If fate by fortune find forlorn,
The angel that I know.
And bring her precious heart to mourn,
Tell her I love her so.

Missing your smiles

Smiles, as though we shared a secret joke
That only we knew
Smiles across the room, as tho’ we spoke
A loving word or two
Smiles when my actions were pleasing
Wish there’d been more

Hand Of A Friend

You understand my heart,
You know me inside and out
You listen to my non-sense
You know what I'm all about
I can not lie to you
I can not keep things hidden
But I know when I make mistakes
I'll always be forgiven

Follow Me

Follow me, he said;
But I had just awakened
And there were morning chores to do
And nothing to gain by following --

Yet in the tone of his voice
An unspoken promise.

Dreams Under The Willow

Under the clouds I’m transported to your close embrace
Hidden from the world caged under the hanging willow
Secluded from anything that may distract me from your side
Branches sway with gracing winds on leaves twirling low.

It is so odd how just tonight I was thinking about all the wonderful people I have met and spoken to here. Some have just left or some are on their way to moving on to the other side. None of us are getting any younger. I only wish we could all live forever and continue to support one another. I hate it when people leave especially when it is forever. This is a beautiful tribute to some wonderful poets.

    Beautiful Niche of Nearness ...

Forever. I know of a South African Poet friend of mine, Cliff Spero, who died on March 14, 2008.

    http://allpoetry.com/poem/271731

    THE DISCIPLE

Who’s this big man, with grizzled beard, tears flowing from his eyes,
Staring out across the endless expanse, the living Galilee sea,
Cracked and calloused hands gripping his sides, hear how he sighs,
What ails him, what anguish in his heart could cause this trouble to be,
How strong he stands, rigidly braced, no fear for any mortal man,
Powerful frame that comes from a fisherman hauling nets you see,
He bends to no mans will, defied the Pharisees and never ran,
But now his heart is broken, it can no longer be free,
He denied his Master, in fear, not once but thrice,
Cowardly gesture, that hangs upon him, a sword over his head,
No amount of forgiveness could this deed suffice,
No! Now he wishes it was him that was dead,
Fear not Simon Peter, Jesus forgave you then,
He knew your heart was true, correctly so,
He called you a Rock, he’ll build his church on you, when?
As soon as the anguish dissolves and the sorrow does go,
“ Peter”, Jesus said, “ go spread the news for me”,
All men are begot of God and his love will set them free.

    Cliff Spero

Thank you for your wondrous gesture.

  • You're a treasure. What more can I say that hasn't already been said? Just a heartfelt thank you. Such a wonderful tribute.

    A Wonderful Thing To Do

This is so moving to read the words of those who have gone. It seems to mean far more than the likes of names we only see in books, these seem far more real somehow. The young folk are such a sad loss, taken when life should be starting. They were all loved by someone. A wonderful tribute but I hope it is one you won't have to add to too often. Sheila

Thank you so much catz for posting this on your page. While I am still a new member to All Poetry, reading this page brought tears to my eyes. Did you write those poems or did the passed authors did? Either way, they were so inspiring and pheonomenal. Thank you so much for posting this. You are such a caring woman, since some might've just passed them bad. This is so sad that these poets died, some younger than others, but we have to let their beauty and spirit live on, and let their writing be cherished forever. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you, SpiritGun for visiting the memorial for our departed poets. I can understand your reluctness in opening the pages of these poets. But you know, upon reading their work, I've found that it brings the feelings of joy and pleasure in reading their poetry, knowing that they're still here among us, gracing our hearts with words that will never die.
There's so much there... love, humor, kindness, compassion, heartbreak, sadness, laughter and tears.
In time perhaps you'll be able to go there, read some of their memorable work and know that they left us with a part of themselves.

Taking the time now to come and tread the pathway of a place where past poets have left their mark in All Poetry has become more personal as I read of some, and now I have my own friend who is to be recorded here...I have known her for ten years...Each has their own story they have taken with them, and they have left behind a legacy of their own. May we never forget them...My thanks to you too catz and team for your contribution in keeping this part of All Poetry continuing..Love

Its a great Tribute to these legendry poets who are sadly not with us today. They deserved to be here. And they are deeply missed.

Although I'm not fortunite enough to have ever came across these poets. We can rest assured they know the village of master's of poetry far better than those of us still living. All those deep impressions they conveyed, are teaming in gilded golden understood.Peace light and love poets.

We are one held within the words and we form special friendships along the path as we weave and tread upon life's road. To be held in memory after the sun has past across the sky again by words from pens once held. We should do more to remember and not forget although those closest will always have the thread of memory forever in their heart. A pleasure to read and a great mark of respect for those who go before us.

What a great place to be... !

I was so impressed and touched by the way you good people do this kind of "Never Forgotten Mementos" of those who have gone (passed away?) and good poets/writers here in AP. Kudos to all of you, especially to you, Ma'am Catz, and others responsible for this kind of tributes/honors to our AP family writers/poets. to all of you and more power to AP!

This list has grown since I was last here. This is such a dignified place to honour these people who are gone but not forgotten. I wonder, do their family and friends away from Allpoetry ever come to see the tributes here? I'd like to think they do. Lovely work Ladies. Von

Thanks for visiting again And, yes, I hope their friends and relatives visit, too. I always make sure they have the link whenever I have the info to contact them.
Sadly, I have more to add when I return from vacation. I hope to have it all caught up by the end of the month.

    Dear Dee, Pat and Ann,
I still love coming back to "Forever yours" to visit and remember our dear departed poets.
I often visit Patric's and dittysri site and leave messages there. I know they're still with us and read what is written.
The three of you are doing such a wonderful job here. It's sad to come here and see more names added but I'm happy to know there's a place for others to come and visit them.It a surreal feeling as though I'm walking through a cemetery reading their obits.Thank you my dears for the walk down memory lane.
    Love Joan

What a wonderful tribute to the many writers that have touched so many hearts. I myself would be honored knowing that one day when my time comes to depart, that a link to my pages would be placed here for my friends to read and remember me by. This is a wonderful thing you have done. Great job. Gary

    This memorial scroll

is a testament to the value of Allpoetry and to the living souls who dwell here and who remember, in reverence, their departed. As such, this site qualifies as a civilization in itself. The whole
concept, for me, is very moving: art through poetry; the living; the dead; their memories; their words. Ron.

It is with a heavy heart that I read this list of names, this list of those who have passed on. It just makes one marvel at the frailty of life. I just don't really know what to think, what to say.

The death of a friend, even one you only knew online, is never easy to bear, and yes, it is possible to grieve for someone you never really knew. This just goes to show how much our poetry reaches others, and theirs likewise us. in the end, really, art and writing is the only part of ourselves we truly do leave behind for posterity, and by reading what we write and seeing what we create does anyone have a window into our personalities, living or dead. This is really a beautiful monument to our lost loves on allpoetry.

You should fix the second to last one, none of the lines are separated as the rest of the tributes are. It's line-for-line.

    Beauty? Endless love?

There are names on here, that I've recognised. And I confess that I'm sitting quietly at work trying not to be broken down... Too young. Too soon. Too sad..

    Honourable

A beautifully presented, honourable accolade to the poets that have gone before us.Surely every poet would wish to be remembered by their creativity and have their spirit lifted that their light still illuminates across time and space. It lifted the heart of the reader to read of this dedication coupled with appreciation.

Not alot of content on this site makes me cry. I know we see that in every second comment "omg, this is so beautiful, I'm crying." And nine times out of ten, it's a flat out lie. This... tore me to pieces. Especially the kids closer to my age. I'm only 17 and I can't even fathom--... Thank you for doing this. Thank you for giving people a place to go to remember and thank you for allowing me to cry for poets I otherwise wouldn't have heard of. You've done a great thing.

    Ouch!

Reading these brought tears to my eyes. Many of them I know. One, I didn't know had parted ways. You did such a wonderful job here from tender, loving hearts. They are all special and they are all missed so very much. Many touched my life and left something of themselves behind in my heart, adding to the glow of spirit. This is bitter sweet, but necessary, lest we forget who touched our lives with such tenderness, understanding, grace, and, most of all, LOVE. Goodness! Thank you!--Kel

Hi, Kel... how nice to see you again And thanks for visiting the memorial. I receive so many notes of appreciation on keeping these poets alive through the memorial. and the links to their pages. It truly is rewarding to me

I have mixed feelings each time I add someone. Sadness that they have passed away and grateful for the opportunity to remember them to all of us.

We would definitely be remiss if we allowed these fellow poets to just fall by the wayside. Some of them have especially touched my life as I know they did yours as well and so many others of us on here.

Thank you for your wonderful comment

      love and blessings

I want to thank you for the reminder of what we lost and who is still with us, thank you so much...MM...AKA Linda
