ChugglepuffShow poetry

Hallo there! I'm Bryony, named after a poisonous plant. I live in England with my parents, little sister, 2 dogs, guinea pig, army of fish and the one cactus I haven't killed yet.

My dream has always been to be an author, although when I was younger I also wanted to be the first female astronaut on Jupiter (I was yet to discover that it's made of gas and the gravity would kill me) and my current alternative aspirations are to be a biochemist or the ruler of the Universe. At the moment I'm off to study biological natural sciences at university for three thrilling years, then who knows what after that!

I write poetry about pretty much anything and have gone through various phases with style (from cheery fixed stuff to angsty, miserable open whingings to vaguely bewildering attempts at haiku). I generally prefer my fixed poetry to the open bits because I feel it's more of a challenge to write a poem with rhythm and rhyme without losing meaning and it sounding immature and singsong-y, but I've read some spectacular pieces of open poetry.

Basically anything can inspire me, although I currently write a lot of poetry at the train station. Sometimes my better pieces come from people telling me to write a poem about x, some of them come from real thoughts and feelings (although sometimes they get a bit carried away). My favourite poet is Ogden Nash and my favourite authors are Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Jane Austen and Philip Pullman.

I hope you enjoy my work and I'd really appreciate any comments! Thanks for stopping by!

I think I love your author page. And I think that you can be a bochemist AND ruler of the universe. Just do one part-time. (hint: I would rule the universe FULL time)

Also, before I messed around and changed my contest content, I DID read your entry. And you write fantastically well. You should be a novelist.

You dream bigger than I do, all I've ever done is try to rule the world.
