"Many a great poet is often
Nothing but a literary giraffe:
How great he seems in front,
How small he is behind!"
"Where the telescope ends, the microscope begins, which of the two has a grander view? "

you forget the fresh smell of satisfaction]
from something grew out of your own hands
the huge effect of new
even if it was a small band of travelling actors
the expressive power of a play
sure very few had access to what is considered education
even fewer were aware enough to think with their own heads
but you don't see that happening today either...
so talking about the careless sensuality of life
the ability to see the sky at night without distant city noises or the dimming of electric grabage light... I think they had a gain
nothing really changed much except the comfort that came with along with a diversity of stress factors and informational pollution
so we can be (are?) a little more (dis)informed
and (we think) we're smarter
but really? -

maybe photographic flashes
the shape of a shadow on the ceiling resembling a crocodile, a dim light, stuff like this
not that I don't think yours are metaphors but who knows...
