Ronald C. “Ron” Hoover, 68, Hollidaysburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, June 11, 2008, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1939, in Altoona, son of the late Carl and Priscilla M. (Yeager) Hoover. He married Esther R. Hetrick in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years; a daughter, Veronica C. Berry; two sons: Jeff S. and Ronald C. II; a stepson, Frank E. Smith; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Janet Wilt.

He retired as a machinist from Conrail/Norfolk Southern in 1999 with 30 years of service.

Mr. Hoover graduated from Hollidaysburg Senior High School in 1957.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Hoover enjoyed wood carving and was an artist.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A private service will held at the convenience of the family at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, by the Reverend Jaime G. Olson
