About Me
*****
Im Briana, im 19 and im from BC! i like writing poems and i draw alot with charcoal. i usually draw faces and eyes. I'm in Nova Scotia on holidays for the summer, meeting alot of really cool people.
************************************************************
I've noticed that some people are very thorough when commenting on others' work, they dig deep, and examine the meaning of every word. i just wanted to point out that i don't look so far into a poem that i lose track of the art of it all. my comments are usually short and sweet and i don't expect anyone to write me a novel based on my work, however, you may if that's what floats your boat.

Vixen, I have spent some time reading all your poems. I know this much, you have the sensitivity of a poet and you also have that connection between heart and brain that allows a flow to take place that is translated into words. I would bet that if I asked you, you would say you felt compelled to write. That there are times you just HAVE to write to get things out. This is a hallmark of a writer, be it poetry or prose. I also see some things typical of a young writer. There is a certain discipline missing in your writing that will develop over time if you work to that end. Some may cop out and say that discipline is not a friend to a writer, but if one wants others to take their words seriously there must be discipline and attention to details as in any other craft. Your best poems were "Maybe" and "Untitled." Both these poems were put together with a style and a flow in mind. The other poems of yours seemed (to me anyway) to be "stream of conciousness" writing. Remember, poetry is saying the most within the confines of the fewest words. I also think you WANT to write in rhyme, but perhaps you have bought into a certain mentality that says rhyme stifles creativity ... Nonsense!! People that say that are just unable to craft a message that requires deeper and more time consuming thought. It was Robert Frost who observed that, "Writing in freeverse is like playing tennis without a net." I DO write in freeverse from time to time and I must say, it is much, much easier to do than to make a GOOD, creative rhyming poem. Go with your heart and write in a style that frees you to be who you are and don't listen to anyone's opinions of your results, especially if they conflict with what is pouring from your soul. You will know when what you are putting into words is correct or not ... because you will love it as if it were your child. Ron
