This isnt one of mine but I wanted everyone to read this poem if you like it please stop in on slowlyhealing Its called my last goodbye
Lying there upon the bed,
The pillow holding safe your head.
Sleeping softly, dreaming long,
Always wondering what could go wrong.
I see the tubes that hold your life
As fear cuts through me like a knife.
If I lost you what would I do?
I can’t imagine one day without you.
I hold your hand as dreams complete
But your eyes stay closed for your final beat.
Nurses rush in to the steady tone
To find a pulse, but there is none.
They cover you over with a sheet of white
As your spirit takes its final flight.
A solo tear falls from my eye
And I say my last good-bye.
I know you’ve gone to a better place
Where your heart will be filled with grace.
You fought so hard through all the pain,
But one more angel God did gain.
How much I love you, you’ll never know,
But you knew it was your time to go.
So to my friend, I won’t ask why,
So here is my last good-bye.
