I was diagnosed a mantle cell lymphoma patient on April 19th, 2006 and I am now on a rest cycle from the chemotherapy and in a remission stage from the stage 3 that I started out as. Although not cureable my chronic condition is treatable and I shall survive and continue on with my life as I am able to cope. I have been unable to work, and have lost my job after an unpaid medical leave of absense and now subsist upon SSDI. I would be in dire straits if it was not for some old U. S. Navy Submarine Force shipmates and my sister, God Bless their souls, who helped me monetarily while on zero income during the mandatory six month waiting period for the SS people. In June,2006, I lost my Mother and was forced from my apartment by an unscrupulous and drugged out, drunken, jailbird landlady who told me that she did not want to catch my disease. My darling and beautiful Granddaughter arrived in October, 2006 and is a searing bright light in my life. My darling Ruth Ann has been there every step of the way and this trial has made us stronger in all ways. I have had time to put all of my affairs in order and, being a U. S. Submarine Veteran, when I pass I shall have my ashes fired from a Squadron Six Submarine into the Atlantic Ocean in order that I may join my brothers on eternal patrol forever, from whence point to visit my grave you need only to go to any Atlantic Ocean beach, (see My Last Patrol). My spirt and soul is now dedicated to survival and bouncing back, but I shall do, as we all must, what my Lord bids me to do. Thank you for your prayers on my behalf, they are the true fuel of miracles... Jim

Mac McGovern on May 23, 2006Hey Boats,
Welcome to the best site on the web and thank you for your wonderful comments on "A Sailor's Prayer." I retired in 19995 as a CHief Hospital Corpsman--No sub duty. Since I don't have gills I elected to stay on top of the water but, have the greatest respect for you who take liberty in Atlantis. Good luck in your writing. I've book marked your site and will return to read your works as you publish.

symitar on September 14, 2003Hi, boatsailor, and welcome to All Poetry, I hope you enjoy this site as much as we all do! Please allow me to tell you a bit about our site.
Take time to check out the different kinds of membership, and see the differences between Uber and Preferred Membership. You have been given four (4) days Preferred Membership as a free trial, but don’t worry, after the trial period you will still be able to post your poetry. For help, our Moderators, (their names are highlighted in blue), will be able to help you, also Greeters (highlighted in green) or go to the ‘Help' tab for more information. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, just make contact and we will help you find your way around.
There is a monthly challenge you may enter as a newcomer to All Poetry. Click the Contests tab and look for the challenge headed for New Members only. You could win 300100 50 points by entering. For the month of September, this is the challenge link:

For each poem you post please try to critique 4 other poems. This is a matter of courtesy, and you will find the more you critique, the more people will read your poetry.
This site does not only offer modern poetry, but as you find your way around you will find many interesting places to visit - ‘Old Poetry’, ‘Story Write’ – if you feel you have a story to share. Check out the Old Poetry monthly bulletin at http://andrewhide.bravepages.com/Bulletin.htm - it is very interesting and full of information. We also have ‘All Philosophy’ site, so please feel free to join in the discussions there. There are opportunities available where you can learn more about writing and improve your skills, too.
Promoting in the Chat Box is not necessary as we have a ‘Shameless Promotion Area’, as well as a ‘Featured’ area, where you can promote your work so others may see, read and enjoy.
This site continues to grow and prosper and I’m happy to be able to welcome you to be a part of it. Just relax and have fun, this is a great place to hang out!
