<< reply to 'My mistake; Kevin apparently added this feature between the last time I checked ' by Rose Dark Thorn
Thank you for responding to me. I adjusted my settings as soon as Kevin made them available. I am still getting 'spammed' in my email. Althought I cannot tell if notifications are being sent out regarding my poems I can only assume that that end is also broken. As such I have pulled my reserves out of all contests and stopped posting on the site. I do come here to read, though I will likely cancel my silver membership. I will continue to monitor the policy. If it appears that the settings that are available work, I may rethink my view on this issue. -
<< reply to 'The easier way would be to just uncheck that box in the notification settings...' by Kevin
I did , but it took days to work, and in the meantime caused me embarrasment in my office.
My point was that it is showing that I have more favourites than I think I should have, so who are the invisible ones- spiders? Scott says one of them is him. I don't know how that is possible unless it is by cloaking, but the fact that I cannot control who I have on my friends lists either is worrying.
If Scott is pulling my plonker, then this is obviously a glitch, and as such I would draw it to your attention. -
Of course I am pulling your plonker (and if you couldn't tell, then I guess I am no threat to the bear).

<< reply to 'I neither see the point of email notifications for poetry, nor do I want them ~ ' by Stuart Higginson
Thanks for your suggestions.
The themes and backgrounds are mostly user-customization. It makes people happy, and is (i think) an important part of self-expression, especially on the web. I agree poetry could just be black on a white page though. But it wouldn't be as fun.
My author tab suggestion (and it was just a thought, I haven't put any time into it yet), was designed to help solve some of the irritating clutter problems people have on their author pages, and give them a stronger sense of allpoetry as their 'home page'. I still rather like the idea.
Regarding the friends vs. favorites I've been thinking of this for some time as well, and plan on making changes soon. I'm posting a column today about it. I'm tentatively using your 'reading list' suggestion for the name, but we'll see how it plays out.
Lulu and online publishing - I still haven't wrapped my head completely around whether its a good idea or not. Lulu we fell out of bed with a bit as they owe us some money and aren't returning my emails (thought I haven't escalated it much yet).
Allpoetry anthologies are still a plan, though the most recent one has been in hibernation for a bit while I was hoping the coordinators would be finding more poems. I plan to attack it again soon. Unfortunately the last project lost money, so I'm trying to decide whether to just not provide free copies/etc, without become as evil as poetry.com is/was.
Suggestions are always very welcome, please feel free to post a thread here, or contact me by im or email. -
...not for me, or maybe most
Under "Viewers Options", there is "Tell A Friend". That is enough, in my opinion.
Thanks.

<< reply to 'Why not just go to "My Account", and look under "personal Information". Then cli' by S A Adelmann
I have done this - twice. The Edit email and notification preferences DO NOT work. I am still getting notifications in my email and I assume that people are still getting emails about stuff I post. I do not want either to happen. As this seems to be an issue that cannot be corrected I have stopped posting poetry on the site and will not be renewing my silver membership when it expires.
I am sorry that it has come to this, as I have enjoyed the site very much over the past 18 months.

Publication
If you get a poem published (in a magazine, anthology etc = you should be so lucky!), you have absolutely no contrpl over who reads it. -
While it isn't an option on the poll, I cast my vote for no email notification at all...
