I just noticed that my avatar is missing on some (not all) comments that I am making or make. Is this a temporary glitch?
-
Glad to see I'm not the only one noticing that;
it seems to be with all small comments that don't reach 100+ characters -

Nice catch!
This was a new-feature that I didn't entirely intend to launch yet
I meant to add another feature, which I'm adding in now finally, where the first comment of any person will always so the picture, no matter what the length.

Well it may be intended to be comments of certain lengths, but I have missing avatars on comments that could be considered small manuscripts. I am assuming THAT is a glitch.
And it seems completely randome. Some have it, some don't.
Personally I like the avatar on all the comments. It is beneficial as it lets me recognize quickly who comments belong to often times, especially when someone has their font set too close to their background colors. -
There have been SOOOOOOO many changes here at AP lately, it's getting ridiculous. It doesn't feel the same comfortable place anymore. I have messages at IM in the wrong order, my avatar is missing off both long and short comments all over the place, we can't ask someone to chat if they are cloaked anymore, I got private messages at IM sent to my email address. Everything was JUST FINE for the first year I was here, but it all seems to be getting screwed up now. Why fix something that isn't broken? And with all the mishaps, trials and testing going on the site feels unstable...you never know if it is going to work...and if it does, will all the features you have come to like and use, still be here?
Well that's my rant!

1) IMs in wrong order = a daylight savings time thing. There's no good way to handle it if you think about it.
2) Avatar comment tweaks were for readability, and as I did mention there was a bug with this earlier. As the caches expire on poems they should show the fixed system of always showing the first avatar at least. Please be patient
3) Notifications were announced twice, and are easy to disable as you'd prefer, by the link in 'my options'.
4) Yes, all the features you like and use will still be here

Honestly Kevin, I know you put ALOT of effort into this site, and I DO appreciate having the space here to display and discuss poetry and make friends. I like the visual look of the whole site and you do a fantastic job. The above is how I do feel though. Some of the changes are unnecessary. I understand daylight saying would muck up the IM order, but I don't see any reason to have changed the chat system when you did... it was fine.
Yes I have disabled the email function; I did get those notifications, thank you.
I hope you do leave at least one avatar under each poem even if it is a short comment, because it makes it very hard to go back and find old comments without the recognition of glancing through avatars.

Kevin, I also appreciate the work you put in, but I, too, am unhappy with some of the changes. What happened to the rewards for comments on poems? Now, it's only featured and they're SO expensive.
I used the rewards extensively, but I guess I'll get used to being without it. I'm just wondering why you took it off?

99% of people didn't understand the difference between it and the featured box.
And I don't think it improved the chances of you getting a comment on a particular poem...
I may increase the amount of points for comments soon, to help make it easier to get into the featured box... I know it's frustrating
P.S. start a new topic for new complaints
