Does anybody know anything about it? Good? Bad?
It seems like a good deal, but I'm a bit unsure.
  • Hmm, I was hoping the blog would have had some respondees by now ~ I have exactly the same question!

I have a friend who published a book of poetry there. I had to have him get the book for me and send him the money because I had trouble with the site. When I spoke about "publishing" there Someone told me there is another site that takes a smaller percentage of your sale. The book by my friend is paperback, has no illustrations, but is a pretty well made book all the same. I think you can add illustrations but Im not going to swear to it. If I can find the name of the other site that was mentioned to me I'll post it here.
    • I want to leave blank pages throughout, with things like "content missing", "insert picture here" and so on... I think it's more fun that way!

Just saw this on another post in here guys... contact this guy if you have any questions "I have 2 Poetry books published by Lulu.com ( Via Rossendale Books UK ), and they are selling really well ( I also have my own 6 websites used for promoting my work... my main site being:
    POETRY FROM TOM MCGREEVY
    http://poetryfromtommcgreevy.weebly.com
I cant fault LULU and will be publishing again with them later in the year !
All my books are available as Paperbacks or ebook downloads
( The cost of my downloads is: £2.99 (GBP), Lulu/Rossendale take .99p, and I get £2.00 (GBP) per download )
My first Poetry collection published in June 2008 was ' Poems for Paula ', and is available at:
    http://www.lulu.com/content/2641854
My second published collection is ' I'm a Soldier...get me out of here ! '
    and is available at:
    http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/im-a-soldier-get-me-out-of-here/6742572

I'm considering using Lulu service to make a nice surprise gift for my wife. Does it work pretty easily for that or is it basically geared more towards revenue publishing?
    • I really don't know... That's one of the reasons I started this thread. From what I can tell in the fine print on the site, there is no minimum run, so I believe if you just wanted a single copy, you could get it. I'm thinking of publishing within the next couple of months, or as soon as I can get all my work edited for clarity and transferred to word format. It's harder than I thought it would be!

I just discovered this site, so I haven't delved into it too much yet. To let you know: I use www.blurb.com to self-publish my books. I did check into Lulu at one time, but it looked a bit confusing to me. I am totally happy with Blurb.

Lulu started out unaffiliated. they recently purchased the domain name, "poetry.com".

International Library of Poetry (and their website, Poetry.com) went out of business. They are not related in any way.
