blocks me from my pull down menu when it grows ...
hate it. -
Use an ad blocker.

Where do I get a good one?
-
Out of luck I'm afraid. Thanks

Firefox IS free, you know, as is the ad blocker add-on for it.

I doubt it fits Windows XP, which otherwise serves me very well, including webwork. Windows 7 sounds great for those whose funding permits ALSO all the new appendages to help keep it safe.
AVG Free 8.5 seems OK... The few unwanted ads, I close and reboot.

VERY useful! Thank you!
And I can stay with Windows XP and not have to spend the time learning another new system! (I've been slowly getting new computers since before it was all MSDOS.) Perhaps when this computer dies... then 7
I'd have to ask my trusty-tech who services this from time to time because almost all such data have faded!
He'd know. This one is not old yet.
Hopefully, Thank you.

I have XP and have used Firefox for 18 months now, trouble-free!
I'd definitely encourage you to give it a try - it's easy to download and install, even for a Luddite like myself.

you do not buy protection for your computer? such as Norton or Mcafee?

pm about that- ok?

Norton or Mcafee...
Years ago, I did. Found them less than satisfactory because any service call was "Long Distance-and-wait" and for some reason I remember they were not rare. Bell Telephone remained solvent because of people like me. (Fortunately I was still working full-time then.)
Several times since then my tech has updated AVG Free (to 8.5 now) and it seems OK...
No protection? I even got a metal router and adapter and have not been bothered by hackers since. Mind you now that I said that, I'll be out of luck in no time!

my Internet provider provides security it use to be Norton now it is Mcafee I have two but it says it would put it on up to four for the same price . It includes pop up blockers virus cookies everything for a very small fee. Joe Joe it does a lot and keeps my computers fast . I ran into trouble with just AT&T does not most people run something that includes pop up just curious? Joe joe?

That's true here too, even when I subscribed through Bell.
I had extended periods when the service was down!
You'd think service would be less though a relatively local, north-provincial IP. Not so! They screen and block all the junk before it gets through as part of the service, and are a local phonecall with infinite patience too! Now and again a new one finds me, and within a half hour it joins the rest of the junk, safely put away.
Part of the package: Web domain, Internet access, e-mail, telephone, TV movies, News, FM Music, Radio, and services I do not need. Reasonable cost. As I said, local phonecall, fast help but seldom needed.
