    I have a question regarding the poems that are chosen for the front page spotlight area. How exactly are the poems chosen to be spotlighted? I understand that poems/poets can be suggested for that, but once they are, what is the process by which that occurs? Let me state, before anyone thinks that I am complaining about those that have been chosen, that I have no issue with those that have been on the front page. I also understand that the category in which the poem is placed, or the subject matter of the poem may make it not so appropriate for the front page.

    When the “more” option is clicked under the spotlight area on the front page, it takes us to a page where “approved” and “submitted” poems are listed. The “approved” poems have already been or are currently being spotlighted. The “submitted” poems are those that are still under consideration. I have noticed that many times those poems that are in the “submitted” category don’t make it to the front page (for whatever reason), and simply at times are just removed from the “submitted” page. Many times, in my opinion, those poems that have been submitted (and then removed) would have been a choice of mine (if I was the one doing the choosing) to be spotlighted...

    So, my question (again) is this—how do these poems get selected? Why are some simply just removed from consideration? Why are some poets repeatedly featured (by that I mean, featured two or three times--or more, even), and others are dropped from the list? Who decides what is a quality poem that should be spotlighted, and why another poem that has been submitted is deemed “subquality” and tossed aside? Are the poems chosen in the order they are submitted? Does only one person make this decision?

    Just say that readers submit them and you screen them with site policies in mind...
