...that after all that silliness regarding my Nightwish tickets, that Nightwish wound up cancelling their show because their lead singer was pretty sick. In their place, though, Sonata Arctica put on a great show for about an hour and a half.

Though I would've loved to see Nightwish, it's not all bad...the show for Sonata Arctica was free and they're going to issue refunds to everyone who bought tickets to see Nightwish.

I already know what I'm gonna do with that money once I get it back--buy tickets to see Opeth at the same place in October. Mikael better not get sick, too.

    That's about it, really.

Well, it could've been worse. My friend bought tickets to this concert with almost a dozen different bands and the one band she bought the tickets for pulled out. (Lead singer got sick.) She was just a little bit dramatic about it though.
At least you'll get to see Opeth.

Eh, it was disappointing, but oh well. We'll try and catch Nightwish again sometime.

I'm sure you'll pull it off eventually. Even if you are almost eighty or something.

They did at least make an appearance though; they got up on stage for a few minutes to say what was going on and that they really wanted to play, but could not. And I think they stuck around to do some signing and meet some fans.

    Real musicians play through illness.

Yeah, but she's the lead singer and I bet if she had a sore throat or something, singing would be risky and difficult.

Besides, I'm gettin' my money back, so I don't mind too much.

When I saw coheed and cambria for the first time Claudio had a throat infection and still played! Dedication!

Are they any good live, or in general? I'm rather curious about them.

Their absolutely phenomenal live, they get better every time I see them. I saw them with Thrice a couple of years ago and they were amazing.

Their first album second stage turbine blade is the best. Time consumer is probably one of the greatest songs ever. They were my favourite band for years. But then the drummer left, they got really commercial and a bit too poppy for my liking, still a great band.

I have encyclopedic knowledge on them so apologies for the lengh of this reply.

I'm thinking of getting an album or two of theirs, because I like that their albums are telling one long story. I'm a sucker for concept albums.

That, and Wikipedia lists them as progressive rock, which is great.
