Hé Kevin, why are you messing up all our backgrounds????? We graphic people worked very hard on them and now they look like .... well, you know, the word I'm not supposed to use here. Is there a reason why you've moved everything to the right, or did you hit the wrong button. I'm not happy and as I have to go to sleep now, I'll probably have nightmares.

I don't like this at all and I demand to have it changed back. I pay for my account, I want the option of this. Not have it enforced upon me. You run on our money, I want the choice or at least the common courtesy to be notified of times for these changes. I am not happy about this in the least bit.
-
-
actually he has written several notifications of this in the past month-
-
-
regardless, I am a paying member and I am not happy with the service. Also, it is not fair at all to enforce these changes on us if we do not like them. It's my money, mine. I should get something out of it and right now I am not getting anything at all that I like. I am very dissatisfied.

I don't really feel it's all that regardless.
These discussions have been ongoing for some period of time, Kevin even gave a particularily straightforward and logical explanaition for these changes on one of the more recent threads on the policies forum and while those who disagreed with them coming in still didn't like the idea, they decided to give it a chance for the most part.
I don't think digging your heels in and making demands are going to get you very far, there are plenty of paid and free members on this site, the changes are universal, so to throw that up is more regardless than the multiple notifications one had before this no?
One doesn't go in to a restaurant and give out to the chef because there's nothing on the menu they like do they?
-
regardless? Sorry. Didn't mean to let the truth interfere with your tirade. Carry on.

First of all, you cannot demand something of a privately owned site. Kevin owns the full rights to this site and can do WHATEVER he wants to. The only thing you can do if you dislike something is stop supporting it and stop coming. But honestly, saying "I demand..." is very ridiculous. Did you read the Policy and Rules And Terms of Use?
Good luck with your "demand".

Saying something like "Please consider changing it back, or I'm leaving" is much better (but ultimately means the same thing)

I wonder if there's something amiss with the spacing, though. Notice when you reply or post to a topic, the cursor doesn't go straight to the left of the text box anymore. It starts about one space out from it. hmmmm.... wonder if it's tied in.... -

I've spent hundreds of hours on my backgrounds and now they are all messed up. I don't mind the fixed width so much, but altering my backgrounds through coding... Sorry, but I can't do that. I've been here through several MAJOR site changes and helped Kevin through a lot of minor changes (mood, for example). But unforunately I cannot agree with this choice of altering the backgroudns and making part of the right side of the border appear in the left side.

I've been here since 2002... lots and lots of changes since then. The site really looks nothing like what I joined.
I don't like the right side border, either. To me, it boxes things in, and generally makes me go
So far, my custom backgrounds look normal to me. But, if they get all FUBAR..... well, I joined AP to write, so I can go back to that (and it might just kick start me into writing again... forgotten what that feels like
)

My author page is totally white, and all the links and lettering is a bright yellow. I can't read a thing. I hope this is a glitch in the process of being fixed.
-
-
Your page is ugly. You suck.
-
-
I knew that's how you really felt about me. Sniff.
-
-
Your page looks better. You no longer suck.

-
it's true nicole. your page is ugly.
you do suck. -
-
And now I know. Sigh.
-
-
Kinda funky...
-
It is happening on poem pages, too.

My page is also looking pretty fugly, at least on my widescreen. *sigh*

Whoever would like a fix to these lines, I'm not sure how magnificent they work with the custom backgrounds but you can always give it a shot

That explains a quick and easy way, 10 minutes max, to get rid of these lines. Enjoy -
I actually like the way the poems are indented now and not right up against the left hand margin anymore, especially on plain backgrounds. I see how some of the borders look a little screwed up though, like my lips one. I guess I will have to retire that. lol.
-
Ah yes. This is bad. This is really really bad.
-
Solution?
If you've made your backgrounds at a width of 1280, then just set the border to 0 and most of the time they will look alright again. At least that's what mine do at my screen. -
-
Only border widths no larger than 225 will work that way, in my experience.
-
-
Well
Kevin has now given you options. Check out the latest column update on the home page.
