The New School in Manhattan at 79 Fifth Ave. (and no, I am not an alum or in any way affiliated with the School) has scheduled what I think are some great public poetry readings this Fall. I thought some people might be interested in the dates and poets involved, in case they are in the vicinity:

The New School will celebrate the contributions of several influential writers, including tributes to Elizabeth
Bishop and Jane Cooper. Poetry Society of America: A Tribute to Elizabeth Bishop (Oct. 30) will feature readings of
Bishop’s work by Jonathan Galassi, Susan Howe, Katha Pollitt, Meghan O’Rourke, Vijay Seshardi, Lloyd Schwartz, and
    Rebecca Wolff.

A Tribute to Jane Cooper (Nov. 11) will feature readings of Cooper’s work by Kazim Ali, Jill Bialosky,
Martha Collins, Beatrix Gates, Marie Howe, Jan Heller Levi, Thomas Lux, and Jean Valentine.

The New School will also host events in conjunction with literary awards ceremonies. Best American Poetry (Sept. 25) will
include readings by John Ashbery, Charles Bernstein, Ciaran Berry, Laura Cronk, Richard Howard, Mary Karr, Dennis
    Nurkse, and Meghan O’Rourke.

The Academy of American Poets Awards Ceremony (Nov. 7), will include readings and
presentations by Eamon Grennan, Carl Phillips, Claudine Rankine, Jonathan Thirkield, Ellen Bryant Voight.

Great info Monte! We should be more attentive to posting readings and stuff in our own geographic areas!

Thanks Lisa. I agree. In fact, it was Zara's thread commenting upon Mary Karr's criticism of poetry style that made me think to post this, since Karr is one of the scheduled speakers for the tribute to John Ashbery (that reading could really be amazing, given the line-up).

I am going to keep an eye out for others out here in the Bay area too. I whole-heartedly agree that it's in our mutual interest to inform the poets of AP of great poetry readings and other public events like these.
