My New Job

So I put in applications in a lot of different places before school was out so I could get a summer job. No one called and I thought "all well, I'll just enjoy my summer and goof off like I normally do". Today, the owner of the local McDonald's called. She asked me to come to an interview on Thursday. I'm pretty sure I'll end up getting the job...

Buuuut so many people I know talk badly about people who work at McDonald's and say they will never work there. What's wrong with it? It's my first real job and it's temporary. I'm not going to make a career out of it. I'm sure people will have things to say about it but I don't care. I don't see anything wrong as long as someone is doing honest work. I think it's annoying that some people think that work is "beneath them". I have heard so many people say "I need a job. I don't care where I work as long as it isn't at McDonald's."

So the point of this little rant is to ask if you think any work is "beneath" you and why? And just to start up conversations about jobs and such.
  • There's nothing wrong with it...I just wouldn't work in a fast food restaurant though mainly cause i don't want to find out anything gross about the places i eat.

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of fast food in the first place, so I don't think it'll be too much of a problem for me.

I believe it is how greasy and horrible you feel after working in any place that uses large amounts of hot oil or grease, that would be a reason not to work at McDs. Personally I will not work at any chain store because I value grass roots, individual identity stores and refuse to support chains in any way except the fair trade store . . . because I feel the global benefit makes up for the undermining of local identity.

Also I prefer to work at places that will give me good work experience, and because of my volunteer work and educational level I can got jobs, so I do. That probably isn't an option for you yet though, but you can get good experience jobs you should go for it! It is so good! Actually interesting work.
