that dumb box around the title of my poems
-
Nor do I
thanks ... is there option to undo?
-
Yeah. I'm not feeling the box.
-
-
nope, not feeling it either
-
-
ditto
-
Um, not only do I not want it around our poems, I don't want it around our contests, account, and Im's. It looks awful, and if u spend hours trying to do HTML and have that around your poem it really screws it up,and on the front page everything scrolls because of the bar.
-
Oh my gosh, that thing looks awful! Why is it even there?!
-
I do not WANT garbage around my titles...sigh
-
I agree.
-
When did that happen and what was the reasoning behind it? Just wonderin'. Was it supposed to be an enhancement, Kevin?
Did someone request it? Oh well.
-
I don't want the box on my poems...
If the author's page can have the box removed when using a custom background then why can't the same apply to the poems themselves...
in support of non-gold members however, i agree the title box should be removed from all poems on the basis that is very intrusive and looks terrible...
and LIME GREEN! on the other pages, yeah it's colorful i'll give you that, i just don't understand its purpose since it can not be aesthetic... -
Kevin a bit more input --
Sometimes I use the title as sort of the "first line" lead in -- with a mandatory box around the title it really changes the way the poem "works." Yes I could retype the title but why the box to begin with?
A Poem's style and form belongs to the Poet and shouldn't be forced into a box. Ever.
Yes, in the realm of all the horribleness in the world this is hardly even a fart in the windstorm but for those of us who care about presentation, both visual and actual poem mechanics -- something like this doesn't work.
Lisa -
-
exactly..
-
-
Kevin
Let me explain how it is for me in terms I think you should connect to..
it's like looking at a
>>>>>>>>>>>> HUGE UNSTYLED FORM BUTTON <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
sitting on the top of the post.
//////////////div style="background: url(/s/images/bg_gray2.gif) repeat; border-top: 1px solid #555;border-bottom: 1px solid #555;"///////////
I'm not quite sure I see the sense in the image..?? It's certainly not adding anything to the style??
you could add a class, surely..
work I know, but it could be done yes???
If it's an object that has to be there, perhaps you could simply use:
background-color: transparent;
or even maybe background-color: inherit; ????
PLEASE!
Most things don't bother me, but this one, well this hurts my eyes.

Please
remove the box around titles of poems, of contests, of any page where a title is present.
Titles are an important part of any written piece and to do this to them takes away from the entire presentation.
Please - remove the bar. It is ugly and tacky. Thanks so much. ~Pamela -
The box around the titles of our poems look awful please please remove it
-
Please be patient, more updates are forthcoming!
-
-
thank you Kevin, looks much better... appreciate the prompt response...
-
lol, thank you Kevin
-
-
yeah, not digging the bar at all...
-
I keep clicking these bars but nothing happens.
-
I wonder if we've become too demanding and impatient. Lurking to pounce at the very inkling of something possibly untoward or away from our expectations! Take stock take stock take stock people. Examine your motives. Goodness me, no one even gave it a moments chance. And I, I never even got to see and determine if I liked it because it's gone in a flash.
I might've liked this box around my title...and now I'll never know.
I don't think it hurts to have a box as an option...we could hang doobobbles and foofaraw from it.
There is a lovely green strip along the top of my Messages page which I quite like...one does want a hint of colour.
-
-
yes, i agree
that puke green on top of brown marble is just perfect -
-
Puke green you say? Where? Where is the puke green? I thought it was a subtle purdy green. Maybe I should get my eyes tested. Maybe puke is another word for subtle and vibrant? *blinks*
-
-
depends i suppose on what you had for dinner-
-
-
Nope nope. I would never puke that kind of a green. That kind of a green can be found in beautiful meadows lush with flowers. If it were puke green, my puke green, there would be bits of putrified worm in it...still wriggling.

titles should include one noun (not pronoun)
that's detectable -
-
I think he
-
was demonstrating what Cvillelisa mentioned - that you can't intro a poem using the title in this way when it is boxed in.
These boxes are still around, btw;

According to Kevin, the colored stripe will not appear on pages that have custom backgrounds (definitely the case with the author page you cited).
-
"Author pages will hide the grey bar when you have a custom background selected. Same with poem pages, contests, addlines, columns, groups, etc."

It's happening on the poem of the day from oldpoetry.com, too: http://allpoetry.com/opoem/120726-Gerald-Massey-Growing-Old

I don't know the hows and whys of oldpoetry.
-
-
well, it doesn't do it on Oldpoetry. It does it on the poem of the day from oldpoetry here on the AP front page.

I'm not sure what your point is.
