    I'm curious as to how other poets deal with writers block.

    Personally, I like to either go for a walk or flip through my thesaurus. Or give up an start writing something else. What do you do?

    Listen to music. Anything with good writing.

    close your eyes and write about what you see.

    I don't think you can force your way through it. If a germ of an idea comes write it down. Do something else & let it gestate internally so to speak. I'd say something else but I think I am blocked.......sorry, old joke!

    Just keep writing, anything that comes to your mind, good or bad, don't get stressed about it and don't obssess about it, go swimming to unwind.

    What? A writer's block?

    Here's how I cure my writer's block: I don't write if I don't have anything in mind. Now, that's not writer's block to me. But I maintain a curious eye, though, noting nature, observing people..sometimes I write these observations, sometimes I make a mental note of them.

    Therefore, when I settle down to writing I build on the idea, I toss it around in my mind, shape it, mould it till it grows...

    Either I grab a beer, or I move on to another poem or another project altogether. It seems to work really well.

    I think some of the great poets have an invocation of sort, i would think to invite the spirit of poetry to help them with the struggles of a poet one of which is a writer's block. One of the best poets here on AP has created his own. This is a beautiful poetry in itself and i would say a powerful write, check it out:
