I'd like The Serious Board back please

    Like the title says, I'd like to have some serious conversations for a while. The pub is now just over run with children. The folks who are old enough to contribute in an intelligent manner are actually acting like kids just to fit in!

    The friendly cafe thing is ok I guess, but not stimulating enough.

    Can we have a board where it would be against international law to act like a twat!

    You're going to get the same basic type on any board. You can't post your opinion without someone coming along and demanding that you change it to their way of thinking, or calling people names if others don't kiss their hiney and thank them for gracing the screen with their presence.

    Suffice to say that I've had the urge to cyber b'ch-slap a few people on here (and by here, I mean this forum), but... whatcha gonna do? It's all sorts of people with varying ideas, and some who should just switch to decaf.

    Yeah, bring the serious forum back... but the immature will flock to it, and the snotty people will flock to it, and it'll be the same as the adult forum.

    (disclaimer - no names were mentioned, and no situations were mentioned, so if anyone wants to cry "foul!", then I wonder why you thought I was referring to you? - end disclaimer)

            I'm not sure what his name is, but I think he looks like a snack pack or a bucket. ... or, Charlie... Charlie Chicken sounds good.

    I have to agree about the Friendly Cafe, though.... it's going the way of the teen board (or so I can assume... I haven't been to that one in over a year). Try to start a discussion, and it gets overrun by topics that are a repeat of the topic before it, and ask the ol' 'what would you do if...' question.

      I don't bother going on any of the boards. Except for this one; I like seeing people's ideas. And it's kind of funny reading the complaints.

      I guess if you wanted a serious discussion, you could always start a group and only invite specific people and kick them out if they get too snotty... But that could probably get annoying.

    Well, I'm having a month or so break from The Pub.

    I admit to falling into the trap of dumbing myself down just to fit in for a while there. I can't do it any longer, especially when i log in at work and I've just finished a lecture with professors etc. During my lunch break I'll log on only to be confronted with, oh I don't know.. school yard dribble.

    I see Barbs point but if no one says anything nothing gets done.

    At least I put it out there.

    Hopefully after a month The Pub will re-invigorate itself.
