    Hello everybody,
    I just picked up my pen again after a long period of being either unable or unwilling to write any kind of poetry. A couple days ago i picked up a fresh spiral journal and just started writing and writing. At first it was just rambling prose but slowly my words started to build a rhythm and eventually I wrote my first poem in a couple years.

    I decided to join a community based website because i really feel that it will really help me to continue to build my skill, plus i get to read poetry from people like me (not pros) which just feels different. Allpoetry.com really feels like a community, I like that members seem to know each other and almost all comments are helpful or at least supportive. Hopefully I'll get to know some of you and hopefully I'll advance as a writer.

    Hi Grant, welcome to AP! Enjoy your stay and I hope you're able to keep that momentum going. AP definitely helped me with my writer's block as well.

      Hi - the first thing you should do is read this amazing poem that was written for one of my contests, (edited by admin to remove promotion) and especially read about the "Butterfly Mission" in the notes - it is such a cool idea. Hope you enjoy your time here at AP and all the best. ♥

    The Butterfly Mission

    Because administration, in their inifinitessimal wisdom and vigilant concern for poetry have deleted the link I provided above to Sinnocence's poem "Butterfly", {to which I noticed that at least Topnotchsky read and commented on ~ thanks }, I will add from the author notes what the Butterfly Mission is:

    "For those who haven't heard of the Butterfly Mission: Draw a butterfly on yourself with a permanent marker and name it. If you cut before it completely fades away, that means you killed it. If you don't cut until it fades away, it survived. But be sure not to make the butterfly fading away an excuse to cut after its gone. Just draw another before the other one goes away completely. If the butterfly doesn't live, its ok, don't beat yourself up for it. Just start over!"

    hey i am new here to i used to write all the time. i too have just started writing again, after 10 yrs. just go with it it will all come back , and there is no judgement just what you feel is right. enjoy
