    Escalators.

Honestly. I'm afraid of escalators. And myself. I don't know me very well.

Ever been on the London Underground when you are on one of the two storey high ones and a train goes by below and you think you are about to be sucked into the voids of the Earth and spat out in Australia after ten laps of the ninth circle of Hell? If not, please come and experience it.

Now I'm frightened. I'm not looking forward to that one. *shivers*
      • So you are saying, Austraila is where we end up after traveling to the bottom of hell? Interesting. Have you given thought to posting about this in the Pub?

I hate it when I'm on a platform and 2 trains whoosh by, either side, and in different directions

I feel like I'm about to fall over, spin style, when that happens

heck, I'm scared of entering the tube stations in London!

I was there about 2 weeks ago and managed to avoid them altogether apart from once when we got on a bus from Covent Garden at 4.30pm to take us to Camden and it just stopped halfway as it broke down. We nipped on the closest tube, but in all honesty, I was cacking it the whole time (4 1/2 mins) we were down there, for LOADS of reasons!

I got used to the Euston to Waterloo bit during the summer - i made that journey too many times. But the escalators were relatively petite. Going further into London, delving deeper and deeper below the crust of chewing gum - those double length, 45 degree escalators... shiver!

some of the stations in London are really deep underground; I can't remember the name or location (near Covent Garden?) but there's one in particular that's way way down

There are a few lines that go really deep.

                  Here:

"Hampstead has the deepest lift shaft, 55.2m (181 ft), and is the deepest station below ground level, 58.5m (192 ft)

Angel station has the longest 60m (197 ft) escalators in western Europe, which take 80 seconds to carry passengers up or down the 27.5 m (90 ft) drop."

Have you been on the kind that keep on escalatoring after they have got to the bottom? I think there are esome in London, but I've only been on them in Paris.

no, but there's outdoor escalators in Vallcarca Barrio in Barcelona that take you up a steep hill

                        I love that idea!

    I'm scared of rottweillers

every time I see one in the distance when I'm walking my own dog (a staffie) I go the other way

I'm not that scared of them when I'm by myself, just when I'm with my dog---I'm scared the rottie's going to eat my staffie

Awww, Rottweilers are lovely. I have one, and I think he still has yet to bite and attack me, since everyone else in the family has gotten crunched. But hey, he loves me . . .
      • haha

I think it stems from being in a room with one when I had a furry jacket on...I even considered jumping out of the window, as it was making weird noises while looking at me. The owner was holding it, but it could've broken free, easily *yelp*

    I can honestly state that
I am afraid that people wouldn't like/love me for who I am. I guess I tend to hide behind smiles and laughs, and too many people assume I'm always that way...the truth, I have my sad, depressive low moments just like everyone else and it's a habitto hide the fact that I can be vulnerable.
  • Elevators...too crouded...Plus
    everyone's just standing there
looking down at the floor and
you feel as if you should
    say something to break

    Tunnels.

Ain't no how, no way, that I'm going through one that I can't see the end of... or if I can see the end, one that I can't stand up in.

I DO NOT do tunnels in snow forts, or tunnels in underground mines (tours, etc). It's not that I freak out once I get inside... I stand on the outside, look at at it, and just say "No." I refuse to go in to even see if the interior would freak me out or not.

I lived in a house that just had a crawlspace under it... I had to replace a light switch once, and to do that, the power box was in that crawl space... all I had to do was shimmy in, flip it, then slither back out.

I stood at the top of the steps, looking at the dark hole, flashlight in hand... then I called my dad to come do it for me.

I can walk(never crawl) through tunnels in mountains where I can see the other side, or light coming from the other side. (This does not count in vehicles... I can do that, no problem through tunnels).

But, I'm not claustrophobic. It's just certain tunnels.
