Does it matter? As long as we can click to 'all poems' I don't mind.
  • 8 will be cluttered and bluky - as most people have already chosen - I go for 6, or 4 is good as well.
  • I think it would be better if the poets themselves could choose how many poems they want to have shown on the profiles.

      hey that's a nifty thought!
maybe we should vote on that rather than how many links we should have on the profile...

Personally, I think it's ok as is, we don't want the thing to be too cluttered! Ok, I admit, many people clutter it anyway. But still. I think that any more is just starting to get big headed, and egotistic. Perhaps have it user adjustable instead?
  • I think we should have more because I like seeing some of the poems people have written at a glance and more than four would be better, without having to click on show all.

Looks good the way it is. How hard is it to click on the "Show all" link?

rather than more new poems, would it be possible to allow the author to choose their best or favourite works to put on the front page instead? most of my recent poems at the moment are 5 minute 'lesson' poems that i didnt put much thought into, or was testing an idea, which i really dont want representing me on the front page. i know we have the 'poems im working on' links, but that implies they are unfinished.

we can do that, its called "poems im focused on" and you click on a link that is found on the specific poem page "pin to authors page"

as i said in my post, i know we have the poems im focused on/working on section. but it implies the poems are unfinished, because youre focusing on them.

Six. I think, however, that we should be able to choose those six poems. If someone doesn't set them though, just let them be the most recent. That way, an author could let their best poetry represent them. (I don't know how complicated that would be... But it's a nice thought.)
  • I think the four new poem links we get now is alright, especially added to the fact that we can 'pin' more poems to our author page if we want too.

whenever an author or poem is mentioned on forum grounds
a reference link should be automatically added
    but only for dead poets

    as living poets must
    struggle up arcadian slops
to craters filled with liquid rock
    to throw themselves into
in hopes to cast their hollow mold
    in cooling stone.

I think all poems should come with vocabulary words linked to their dictionary definitions too, like the way words in your poems are linked to ads over at poemhunter.
  • I think the more the better...its kinda like when you go to look at a book..if you have no certain book in mind..the first thing you see is the cover..the more contents on the cover..the more interested you are.
Personally if I looked at a book that said "yup this is a book look inside for more" id put it back
But if it said more of whats in the book..it may get me to want to open it.

At what point does it become too much and the consumer is overloaded so they still put it back down?

I think best to just add the feature in the edit profile and let each individual choose what suits them best

I would like it if all the new poems added in the past week showed. Sometimes I hesitate to add because I don't want to just push down a good one to where it's off the page. lol. The truth is though that I don't usually look beyond the first four that show so it would be nice to have more visable automatically, without "pinning" them to the page which I feel is different and gets ignored by most. I can see how few hits my "pinned" poem gets unless I promote it, each week. Thanks, Kevin.

maybe an individual option or allowing set amounts on the members page,
    ie: 4, 6, 8 or last 7 days
and if none posted within the last 7 days, to default to 4.

How many poems can we "pin" to our author pages? As long as that is there, I feel no need to fuss with the "most recent" list.

"Being focused" on a poem is different from having the most recent be up, though. I really most enjoy the newness of creation and would like those to all show rather than saying I'm focused on them for whatever reason.

Four is fine but it would be nice to have an option to change that number, if you really wanted more/fewer on display.

I personally like four because my page is too cluttered already. But instead of just switching the amount, why not have it adjustable in our "edit account" feature? please?

I would also like to have the option of choosing, and as others have already suggested, maybe adding poems of your own choosing to your homepage would be nice. Thanks for taking in our suggestions.

I know it's kind of unrelated.
But when we voted for poem previews to go bye bye [lol]. I didn't think that meant contests. Just wondering if there is a chance of getting the previews back up for under contests when browsing through.

I see this as a social networking site, and the only 'poems' that I post are written specifically for contests when I'm being a little silly.
  • at least 6

people really like writing poetry and the more they can the more they would be enthused to join the site. i think that if there is a set number than 6 or more. i dont think that there should really even be a number.

Both Americanpoems and Poetbay allow your most recent 10 pieces to show on the page. Poemhunter, even more. I would really appreciate at least being able to have all the poems of the last week showing and think it would present a challenge to write more.
  • You can already have eight links by choosing Poems I'm focused on...they'll appear first...
I agree, thoughm, that allowing an infinite amount of links can make pages extremly cluttered and hard to scroll down...I have enough issues with annoying author pages that contain a million "I had a gay friend, if you have one two copy and paste this link" and long, boring poems and millions of pointless quotes and not to mention the pictures made out of stuff like this 1///83)(###111`~~~~////...
keep your author page neat and engaging...a little of everything is fine, but too much and I'll skip you!

an infinite amount of links can make pages extremly cluttered

This can be organized by ordering links into group
      that have properly titled headers

      for emample
      save
      open
      and new
are all under file on word programs

  • well its not that big of a deal.
but i think we used to have more showing on our page and i liked that.
so six or eight would be pretty dank.
