here in Barcelona, rubbish collections happen twice a day, at least. there are seperate bins for seperate waste products on every other street corner. simple.

I can't believe the state of the British system of once every two weeks!!! what?! even in big cites? no way.

I care less about how often rubbish is collected and more about the fact that I have to get woken up while they do it!

That happened this morning and I'm still grumpy about it.

uh, I hate that. I hate it even more when I'm lying in bed with insomnia, and I hear the bin men. I think '5am!!! Already!'

I care about rubbish though. when I go back to the uk, I'll miss the rubbish system. If I have an old chair, for example, or a piece of wood, I can just leave it almost outside my front door and it'll be gone withing a few hours. I fear I'll be wallowing within a week of going back

I care about what happens with the rubbish when it goes, my country has very poor recycling by good standards, I mean I live in a city and we are only given a small green bin to fill up with recycling stuff, plus they don't take many types of plastic. And I live in an apartment block and they wont set up composting even though I asked them to, and there is no city system for picking up compost or companies that will do. I can't think of anything else to do with my food scrapes so they just have to in the garbage, it is horrible, I feel so guilty doing it but there seems to be no other options.
Do you guys have any ideas?

Cook smaller portions so you won't have to throw out so much food into the garbage.

Its not food that I am throwing out, sorry I wasn't clear, but foodscrapes, like the ends of carrots or the rotting bits of potatoes you need to cut out before you cook it.

Oh man that would be so cool! I hate apartment buildings, next year I will get a house where I can have pets. It'll be awesome!

I have a little dog, and she eats leftovers like plain pasta. I'd love a little pig as well and a goat---they've got great vibes, but they need proper land to live on

I feel sorry for my dog sometimes, stuck in the city

Do you not have a garbage disposal system in the sink?

              My bad.

I forget that I am blessed to live where kitchen garbage disposals are considered standard and not high tech.

                'blessed'

I wonder. Is it a blessing or just a waste?

Twice a day seems mighty excessive. Or else people have very small trash cans.

I'm in the middle of Barcelona, there are bakers and magazine offices below me so twice a day is needed for all the businesses. once a day would do me

it's very hot here. nobody wants smelly rubbish in their houses, because of ants, and

      COCKROACHES!

We have garbage collection one week, recycling the next. The compost goes out with the garbage in large green containers. If you live in an apartment, then everything basically gets garbaged and composting doesn't happen.

I'm in a British city. Our waste is collected every week. If it was colleceted more often, people would just throw away more.

I don't know...the kitchen bins in hot countries tend to be smaller as there's more bugs in the heat.

I just don't like the idea of my waste hanging about for a week
