Publishing Scams

    I was wondering if anyone had a list of companies that were and were not scams. I know poetry.com and Noble House are, and Author House is a vanity press.

    Got any lists???

    If you go to google.ca, or any search engine, and type in "publishing scams", it will take you to a lot of sites that list them.

    Note - there are a lot of Vanity publishing places that are not scams.  You just have to be careful, and check them out completely before using.

    i have the book from allpoetry.com that has my poem in it. and my friend has hers in it too. but i want to publish a whole book, not just a poem.

      The allpoetry.com book?  or the poetry.com book?

      Allpoetry.com has two books out, and the content are people who were chosen by contests on the site, or by the editors(who are also poets here).  The editors each had 2 -3 of their own poems in it...small price for putting the thing together, and the book is/was sold through the AP store.

      poetry.com will only publish your poem in their journals if you pay them.

        Maybe...probably not. Before I new about poetry.com, I paid nothing. I never pay ANYTHING for it....

        How do you know which is a scam and which is a vanity press and which is actually REAL?
