I wanted to share some news with you fellow poets, I have just signed a contract with Publish America to publish my first book of poetry.  It will be out in 6 weeks.  They really do everything they can to help you be a full success as a published author.  It doesn't hurt that they will be making money off of every book sold either so of course that helps with the pushing of the book also.  They do treat their authors right.  If any of you would be interested in trying to do this just go to their sight and tell them what your book is about and they will get back to you with a rejection of acceptance of the book within 2 days.  Good luck and I'll try to be more active; I just brought my new grandbaby home who was born with the bowels on the outside of his body.  It's his first morning home today.  margaret

I don't believe in Publish America either. They are specifically a POD. until you can tell me which stores carry publish america books on their shelves I will not go through publish america to get anything published

I went through lulu.com(a print on demand site), and have three books already published.  They aren't in print though ;) until someone orders them.  If I want, I can pay @ $32 per title to get a bar code on the back so it can be sold in bookstores.  But, for now, having it so others can order my books online suits me fine.

Wow, what a mixture of joy and concern you must be feeling at the moment...!

Though I have to say that (being in the UK) I do not know the firm you mention. I hope they do a good job of sending out review copies for you - targetted to the journals that are most likely to review it.  If they do not - then do not hesitate to give them a metaphorical kick in the posterior... Remember - as far as the publishers are concerned it is selling this book, and recouping the production costs and the royalties they have paid you (particularly if they made a generous "advance"!) however, what really matters for you is reviews from reputable journals, as these will serve you in the future...

So - do press them on this point... It is easy, in the excitement of seeing a new book (and smelling it too... it is the wonderful smell of a newly printed book that still grabs me - even after more than 50 years....

As for your  grandbaby... what a horrid way to come into the world... but how wonderful that modern surgery can cope with it... I wish you, the baby and his parents all the very best...

Hi I am new here.  I also have a book with PublishAmerica.  It came out in January.  I would love to hear all about your book.  Mine is titled Scattered Images: A Woman's Poetic Tales. Good luck and much success.  Congratulations on your grandbaby.
