Agents and getting 'found'

    does anyone out there know anything about reputable agents who'll take in a total unknown like me and how things like getting in touch with them, getting work seen and all that jazz would work?  someone in ireland would be fantastic as here i currently dwell......but hey, with this new internet thing, i'm sure i'd manage with someone further afield too

    A very good thing would be to get hold of the Writers Handbook.
    It's available thorough any bookstore or even Amazon.com
    you could even do what I did and pick up a copy of the 2005 one through ebay at less than half the cost.
    It will give you a wealth of important and relevant information  over agents and publishers and alot more.

      I think I have that around here somewhere...I think I got it in high school when I took a journalism class, though I never really paid attention to it :)).
