"When you know how to die, you know how to live." That was said by Morrie Schwarts, and I truely do believe it. I also agree with Hamlet (paraphrase) the moment you're born, you start to die. So, even if you think that you have your entire life ahead of you, live each day as if it was your last, and you will never regret it.
On a more poetic note, I love to write poetry, but it is difficult for me to write from personal experience. Most of my work is inspired by the stories of others; whether they know it or not is another story. I would like to learn how to write more from my own heart and not from someone else's experiences. I used to think that my writing anything good from my own past would take time, but as was stated by a fellow member of AP, there must be memories even from childhood that can draw inspiration. So in that spirit, I will attempt to write more from myself than from others in the future, but I won't give up my gift to express what others cannot in the process. Here's to learning from yourself what you can never learn from others.

I don't want this to be a sad story, but it seems like that's all my life is right now. I don't have a dibilitating disease and I'm not homeless, so I know there are so many people worse off than I am. What I do want is for

At an airport in Chicago, a woman sits in a hard plastic chair with her one year old son. She tries to keep him entertained, but she is just as anxious as he is; they are waiting for a plane. Most people would hate to be in

Oh God, it hurts. I need you Jesse, more than mere words could express. It would take more than my one lifetime to explain it. I hunger for your voice to fill my mind, for your hand to touch my face, for your body to caress my own. I know you feel the same for me, but you couldn't possibly know the actual physica

I'm just so tired of all the shit; reaching out to those that I care about and being hounded by those I do not. I do not wish to be cruel, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! 1 I cannot hold the weight of the world; especially now that I am no longer sure if it matters anymore. Just give me a sign proving that what I do ma

To the few of those that read my work, I apologize for my recent absence. Between working eight hours a day and coming home to care for my daughter *who is now six months old and can stand in her playpen already*, I am usually too exhausted to even think of writing. And the few times I have had the will to write, mOctober 19, 2009, In Thoughts. 100 words. → Make first comment?

williamstown : Welcome to this poetry loving group. on July 26, 2009Of course you cannot write from personal experience at your young age. It is only when you look back in retrospect that you find you have so much `history`to relate. even now you must have childhood memories worth recalling. Go to it and all the best of luck.
