BggbyrdShow poetry

I started writing when I was 18 after I lost my brother in a car wreck on Christmas day in 77. I continued to write for other lost loved ones and read my poems at their funerals. I really don't know terms/forms of poetry, I just write what I feel or what verses keep going on in my head. I have written for my sister and friends birthdays which are pretty funny because I write about actual events and not to just make the poems rhyme.

When 9/11's 1st year anniversary came, I had to get up at 2:30 or 3:00 in the morning and write down the verses to "9/11 - Never Forgotten" which I believe God was speaking to me, in order to go back to sleep. That was the first time anything like that had happened and I felt if God was telling me something, I should write it down. Again, the same thing happened on the 5th anniversary when I wrote "In God We Trust". Both of those pieces are published in two separate books.

Joining this site has been very enjoyable for me and lets me open up more creatively and certainly more spiritually than I ever thought I could be. I enter the contests that I enter, not to neccessarily win, but to challenge myself and to hear what people think of my writings.

I really enjoy reading all forms of poetry, but my favorite and the only one that I write is rhyming.

Yes, you may be right about God not being in my heart. But I think you misunderstand this site-it's for poets wanting comments on their poetry. I commented. Poems do matter with length if you want them to be read and respected for the style and perfection written. If you want to spread your word and works, then try writting with more of an open mind...
