I can find beauty in anything, even when and especially if there is nothing beautiful at what I'm looking at. That's why I'm an artist. I haven't gone public with any of my paintings. I will someday. Someday when I go public with my singing too, and I'll play piano and sing in the local coffee shop. Those are my dreams.
A while ago, one of my dreams was to be in a poetry slam. I've accomplished that, and it has forever changed my life. No exaggeration. I met some of the most talented people in my life, and I met so many people who supported me not because they knew me but because my words meant something to them. That has been the greatest reward of my life, meaning something to someone.
Someday, though, I will get far away from here. Somewhere by the ocean, somewhere peaceful. Like the setting of the movie "Whale Rider." Just because I need to get away, to be alone. I need the ocean, even when it's raining. I just need something to surround me so much that I don't need to see the beauty in it to know it's good. I don't want to have to look anymore. I want to see, and I want to believe without seeing.
