My poor scapegoat,
I almost love you
but would have cast, I know,
the stones of silence.

lyrebird on November 22I almost have that poem memorised, you know.
I can feel the tug ... the wind on her naked front.
It blows her nipples to amber beads,
it shakes the frail rigging of her ribs.
[This was the grotesque imagery.]
I can see her drowned body in the bog.
[His objective description.]
Her shaved head like a stubble of black corn,
[That's what it actually looked like.]
her blindfold a soiled bandage,
[A headband, apparently.]
her noose a ring
to store the memories of love.
[Love, as opposed to sex.]
Little adulteress, [Little adulterer is more like it.]
before they punished you
you were flaxen-haired,
undernourished, and your
tar-black face was beautiful.
My poor scapegoat,
I almost love you
but would have cast, I know,
the stones of silence.
I am the artful voyeur [Mrs G. totally misinterpreted this word. It drove me nuts.]
I who have stood dumb
when your betraying sisters,
[That's the Irish for you!
]
cauled in tar, wept by the railings,
who would connive
in civilized outrage
yet understand the exact
and tribal, intimate revenge.

nicki1 on November 21I would never break your guestbook, I live for it.

I don't know, my sleep is shit. Just like everybody else's, I imagine. I hate sleep.
I know, it annoyed me so much the way she ended it! Jimmy isn't going to be a main character, though, I don't think.
I'm just coming towards the end of Cat's Eye at the moment. I've had it for a whole fucking year almost, but couldn't seem to read it. I love it now, though.
You shold get ittttt. I might ask for it for christmas. All I ever ask my brother for is books, which annoys him for some reason.
This has been such a rambling message! Probably because I've barely spoken to anyone today. Oh, well.
