TO THY OWN SELF BE KNOWN

Snap your fingers if you care
Close your eyes if you don't
This is me, a rhythmic soul
Who's always on the divulge
Looking for a passion
So I can take my writing and fasten
The harp strings of a tale
That's all entailed
In my head, my mind, my being
Words coming from my fingers
Letting each image linger
On the forefront of my mind
That's right-I'm one of a kind
I'm hip, a loner, a crowd entertainer
I'm deadly, loving and a fighter I have a voice
I believe in pro-choice
I wear shades at night
That glow is me--I bring forth the light
A breath of fresh air with the tainted tint
The girl who denies glasses and has to squint
The writer, the poet, the talker, the individual
God I've swam so much in my own soul
I'm no longer, I am a creature, a creation of my own
I took the heat of my soul and being and reigned my throne
I am home, I am at peace with my fast-talking self
Manipulative and kind, funny and giving--I know thy self
And to thy self I shall be true
