I live in central Florida. So, it's not abnormal for me to be able to walk out into my back yard in the daytime or at night and see all kinds of critters, both big and small. Most of the "critters" aren't dangerous in a sense that if you leave them alone then they will leave you alone. The only exception to that rule is of course the snakes. They don't show themselves all the time though...in fact I've never seen one on my property. Thank you God! Even so, when my...

Thank you God!
Even so, when my family first moved to the place that I live now the possums and raccoons would always come onto our back porch and eat up the cat food that we set out for our cats. Now, it costs a lot of money to feed 15 cats let-alone a possum family as well.
So, eventually we got/ended up with a bunch of dogs. That worked well to keep the possums and raccoons away and has been for years now.
I guess we humans sometimes forget that the most dangerous things doesn't have to be something that is big enough that it could physically harm you in any way. I would have never guessed that Florida also had poisonous toads.
I only found out about them a few days ago when I had to take one of my dogs to the vet for his annual doctors visit. I went in, signed in, and sat down to wait to be called up. I looked to my left and this woman had her dog wrapped in a pink bath towel.
Of course I asked her what was wrong with her baby, which turned out to be a white Shitszu, and she told me that her dog had caught a toad earlier that morning. She made it clear that he hadn't pierced the toads skin, but instead he had bitten one of the boils on the toads back.
Turns out that toad was poisonous and her dog died a few hours later. After experiencing this, I asked the veterinarian if the toad that killed the lady's dog has the potential to harm a human...he said yes.
Now, I have to take precautions for poisonous toads as well as every other type of creature that might attack me. I don't think I will have a problem though. I hate toads as it is so regardless of the situation I'd walk around them just in case one decided to jump my way.
If anyone has cause to worry, it's the toads! If one of them kills my babies...well, let's just say I'll be eating frog legs for dinner (that is if I can get rid of the poison first).
Ewww!
Just kidding about the frog legs.

I had to create two character profiles for my creative writing class on Wednesday of two people that I know in real life; besides myself. I chose to use my grandparents as my characters, mainly because they were the only people around at the time that I was completing my assignment. I decided to post them on here for anyone interested to view. Note: I had to create the profiles almost as if it was a questionnaire (basically as if my grandparent's answered themselves).

Complete : I have a challenge for you... on June 13, 2008
Hi my name is Jacob House and I am very thankful for your comment on my poem. I hope you will enjoy the rest of them. Now here is the challenge. Think up something random, doesn't matter what or who but something and tell me what it is. I will write a poem about the subject in fifteen minutes or less. If you find something I cannot write about in less than fifteen minutes you win. If I write it and it is good, I win. Get it?
