this divine,
enchanting,
music I hear pound and roll,
like my body turning
and growing bold beneath these sheets.


Rain, a soft velvet pound
against the window's pane,
and spray.
The drummer sprays and pounds
like a bold moon waxen,
then wanes
away, to no sound, no light


I wait for you
says the voice in the night
in my ear.
Still, not your breath.
Still, not your voice I hear.
Still not your warmth upon my back.
Still,
