AlivefromloveShow poetry

well, im kevin (aka fuzzy). i'm a junior in college and i love coaching. i'm thinking about majoring in sports med (physical therapy?), but i'm not totally sure where God wants to take me in my life. i'm pretty emo sometimes, though i'll try to keep it hidden behind my smile. i like playin guitar, and played for a band called asterwood for a while. currently my friend ben (aka yellowfury) and i are working together as an acoustic band called emozen (check us out, myspace.com/emozen). my friends are the most important thing in the world to me, without them i'm nuthin (and without a girl named going nowhere, i would prolly be nuts by now). they are my family. i love my dog hrothgar (yes, i named him after the king in beowulf, cuz that story pwns). i like writing poetry sometimes, and i like reading it too, which is why i'm here i guess, haha. i hope you like my stuff, but if you dont thats ok, sometimes i dont like things either. the most important thing i can possibly tell you about myself is that i am a Christian, and Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. God pwns.

stuff i like (in no particular order): FRIENDS, church, hugs, MUSIC (metal, hardcore, punk, stuff that makes me feel epic, and sometimes other stuff too, depends on my mood), GIRLS, chillin till dawn with people i love, playing GUITAR, my dog, pwning at video games, being a MAN, not getting pwned at video games, large bladed WEAPONS, the tanlines that come with the football pants, slurpees, driving with the top down, my dog, water beds, lifting weights, going to the beach, BEARDS, taking pictures with my phone, good FOOD, the squirrel that lives outside my house and throws acorns at me, SINGING, sleep, standing over my heater to get warm, doing really stupid things with my friends, stayin up late, watching awesome asian movies with subtitles, standing half naked in front of the air conditioner to get cool, TATTOOS, seeing shapes in clouds, coaching FOOTBALL, star gazing, fire, hmmm.... what am i forgetting.... OH, POETRY! =)

stuff i dont like (in no particular order): jerks who treat girls like crap, lame movie endings, rap, people who drive like jerks, bike riders who ride in the street and slow everybody down and then dont even obey traffic rules, getting up early for no reason, boring classes, cleaning, bad food, stupid pop bands, punks who try to be hardcore but are just pansies, clothes that are too tight, rich kids that flaunt their wealth, hypocrites, when people that i am a good friend to treat me like dirt, skunks, people that tell other people things that i told them in confidence, getting pwnd at video games, people that are full of themselves, those funny lookin toaster cars, being bored (like i am now... this stuff i dont like list is purely a product of boredom)

"LOVE NEVER FAILS" -God (the Bible)

"The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?" -The Boondock Saints

spread love like violence... hope like fire

"love is friendship set on fire"

"I shall seize Fate by the throat; it shall certainly not bend and crush me completely."
- Ludwig van Beethoven, letter to F G Wegeler, 1801

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love. " - Albert Einstein

"Good poetry could not have been otherwise written than it is. The first time you hear it, it sounds rather as if copied out of some invisible tablet in the Eternal mind than as if arbitrarily composed by the poet." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The Lord prefers common-looking people. That’s why He makes so many of them.” -Abraham Lincoln

"Do not quench your inspiration and your imagination; do not become the slave of your model."

Soll ich dich einem Sommertag vergleichen?
Er ist wie du so lieblich nicht und lind.
-shakespear in german =)

this is a good poem:

Holy Sonnet XIV: Batter My Heart
-John Donne

Batter my heart, three-personed God, for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise, and stand, o'rthrow me, and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an userped town, to another due,
Labour to admit you, but Oh, to no end.
Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend,
But is captived, and proves weak or untrue.
Yet dearly I love you, and would be loved fain,
But am betrothed unto your enemy:
Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprision me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me.

heres another good one:

Sonnet XIX ("When I consider how my light is spent")
-John Milton

When I consider how my light is spent
Ere half my days, in this dark world and wide
And that one talent which is death to hide
Lodged with me useless, though my soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account, lest he returning chide:
"Doth God exact day labor, light denied?"
I fondly ask; but Patience to prevent
That murmer, soon replies, "God doth not need
Either man's work or his own gifts; who best
Bear his mild yoke, they serve him best. His state
Is kingly, Thousands at his bidding speed
And post o'er land and ocean without rest
They also serve who only stand and wait

one of my favorite bands is As I Lay Dying. here's some of their lyrics that i really think are good:

WITHIN DESTRUCTION-

if music is a mirror revealing the depths of my heart
then i will write the darkest song
for without forgiveness my soul is lost
all that is hope within destruction comes from You
for i have fallen, and there is nothing good within me
yet i've been given life i will never deserve
for without forgiveness my soul is lost

THE SOUND OF TRUTH-

We have all heard what we wanted to hear
"Truth" that sounds right to our ears

But what wisdom is there within us
To live based on the feeling of our hearts
How many times has instinct let us down
Never to be thought through
Never to be questioned
Say what you really mean
When your ambition calls you
For what use is there in praying
If you will only hear what you want to hear?

We speak of fighting to resist this world
But what about the battle within us?
If we have chosen to live against the grain
Then why are we all facing the same way?
There is no difference between us and them
If we all blindly seek truth from sentiments

BEHIND ME LIES ANOTHER FALLEN SOLDIER-

I want to bring You all that is in my heart
I want to bring You my everything
But I've failed You so many times
How can I stand here before You
When I begin to steal what only belongs to You
I am able to bring You nothing that isn't already Yours
I am so ashamed of what I ever called my own
Take what I have, take these broken remains
What can I give You that You don't already deserve
You laid down Your life when I refused to give mine

John Keats is emo:

"When i have fears that i may cease to be"

WHEN I have fears that I may cease to be
Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain,
Before high piled books, in charact'ry,
Hold like rich garners the full-ripen'd grain;
When I behold, upon the night's starr'd face,
Huge cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think that I may never live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance;
And when I feel, fair creature of an hour!
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love! - then on the shore
Of the wide world I stand alone, and think
Till Love and Fame to nothingness do sink.

- John Keats

Salvation is Here- lyrics

God above all the world in motion
God above all my hopes and fears
i dont care what the world throws at me now
its gonna be alright

hear the sound of the generations
making loud our freedom song
all in all that the world would know Your name
its gonna be alright

'cause i know my God saved the day
and i know His word never fails
and i know my God made a way for me
Salvation is here
