Footprints (by a moon's low tide)
Four footprints mark an easy stride
in sands that never lied,
exposed in the wet of a moon's low tide,
two lovers side-by-side.
But destiny can't be denied,
for many starry-eyed
have walked in the wet of a moon's low tide
'though never were a bride.
How long until the sands are dried
and windswept back to hide
our prints, once wet in a moon's low tide?
How long 'til you decide?
My tears, my love, you'll be denied,
too precious to confide.
Alone in the wet of a moon's low tide
my footprints will reside.
