Where to begin... well, I am married to the most amazing Marine ever. He is my hero. We live on windward Oahu at the present. I have to say that I am super proud of my Marine Corps family. They are great hilarious guys. There are about 20 Marines in my little family. some of which are about to go to afghanistan. you would think that two tour in Iraq would be enough, eh?

A lot of my poetry is focused on the military since these guys are a HUGE part of my life even when they are halfway around the world. I have written a lot of poetry in the past about my hurt and sorrow for being separated from my husband. I will still write those kinds of poems because if I wasn't sad to be apart from him then I wouldn't be in love with him. I do try to be strong and this go around I have decided that I will not give into those desolate feelings. I will be strong.

I grew up in the Columbia Gorge and I miss it immensely. I lived on a tiny farm in the middle of the boonies. The nearest neighbor was at least a half mile away. There were tons of tall coniferous trees and wildlife everywhere. So, I guess you could call me a hick. At least I was until the girls decided they needed to influence me. I guess it isn't all that bad being girly. I'm still a crazy loony after all.

I graduated from Portland Community College with my AA in general studies in 07 and I am attending HPU for my BA. I'm still not sure what I really want to do with my life. I would like to spend a few years in the Marine Corps but it is best for me to support my Marines when they need it than to join and need support myself. My fall back plan is high school history education. I always thought that would be something I could do and enjoy.

I love to read. I found that watching tv usually leaves me feeling depressed but when I read a good book I feel happier and more energetic.
George Orwell: 1984
Erich Maria Remarque.: All Quiet on the Western Front
Ray Bradbury: Fahrenheit 451
Jack Estes: Field of Innocence
Stephen Crane: Red Badge of Courage
Edgar Allan Poe: The Masque of the Red Death
Charlotte Perkins Gilman: The Yellow Wallpaper
Shirley Jackson: The Lottery
Margaret Atwood: Happy Endings
Homer: The Odyssey
William Golding: Lord of the Flies
Charlotte Bronte: Jane Eyre
William P. McGivern: Soldiers of '44
Evan Wright: Generation Kill
That is no where near all the books that I enjoy reading but it is a start.

I am super proud to be an American. There are of course things I wish were different and there are other Americans I disagree with but that is life, isn't it? I hate politics and do NOT think there should be two such defined sides. People should be able to go into politics and not have to follow the group on things they don't like just because their party is that way. I always tell people I will be president one day. I'm not sure if I'm serious or not.

If you hadn't noticed yet, I adore quotes. If you have one you think is splendid send it my way. I have a HUGE list of them tucked away on my hard drive. Well, I think that covers the basics.
